Would my IVF meds conceal a miscarriage?

I don't know whether this is the right board to post on. I am 7+1 weeks pregnant today with IVF.

I'm a little worried as I don't have many symptoms: a little dizzy at times, massive appetite and nausea when hungry, a bit of gagging with strong smells and I seem to have gone of Asian food which I'm annoyed about as I love it.

I'm on 3x Progynova, 3xcyclogest and 2xLubion a day. If I was to miscarry, would I bleed or do you think all the progesterone I'm taking would prevent a breakthrough bleed?

I've been trying to search the net but can't find an answer. Does anyone know what is likely?

I was ivf and this is my 4th transfer (currently 27 wks) and my first transfer ended in an early mc. I had the same initial symptoms with both pregnancies which was like a twinges and the odd metallic taste some mornings. It was only the positive tests not getting darker that made me think the first pregnancy was ending. I was maybe off certain foods around 7-11 weeks (until 12 wk scan) but I was also really anxious about losing this one that I never really had much of an appetite until after 20 wk scan! Otherwise nothing else was different and I've had barely any symptoms up until pelvic pain recently. Pregnancy is different for everyone and it is particularly difficult when it's ivf. If you've been told your pregnancy is viable you just have to keep believing in that until told otherwise.

You shouldnt really bleed with an ending pregnancy until your hcg level is very low. Meds can prevent bleeding too. I wasn't on as much drugs so I cannot comment but when I stopped the meds it took weeks to properly bleed and that bleed was light and then proper brown blood heavier period happened about 2/3 weeks after. It is also common to get bleeding with ivf pregnancies but make sure you find out what it is. I had a haematoma found after 7 weeks and bled for weeks after.

In my experience yes, the progesterone can prevent you from bleeding. I had two ivf transfers last year, both miscarriages and both times only bled once I stopped taking the progesterone. I was aware they weren’t progressing as they should have been from HCG blood tests & early scans.

I’m now 27 weeks pregnant with my first baby and can say that at 7 weeks I didn’t have many symptoms, mainly just light headedness, so I don’t think that alone is necessarily an indicator. And I totally understand how worrying it can be.

Have you got a reassurance scan booked soon?

@loveshoe good to see someone else in the same position! Sorry to hear of your losses, infertility is brutal.

@TheOpeningActofSpring reassurance scans was the only real temporary thing that helped me. I went every week until 11 weeks (only break was when I was away on holiday and I was super anxious) and then after 22 weeks I think I only really went out of missing doing it but it's not very often now. They don't take away the anxiety but it is a very short relief. I also found the private scans better than the nhs ones. The nhs didn't pick up on my haematoma and wrote my bleeding off as ectopy but the two private scanning companies both found it without me having to mention that I was bleeding. Just do what you can and sadly it doesn't really get easier. If you pregnancy continues you can get mental health support (I've had that) and it is helpful but again not a cure. Best of luck!
