I am urgently needing to leave my mums house I am pregnant and live with my skitzophrenic brother who smokes in the house and argues a lot, there is black mould and other issues. I have just started my maternity leave, I was hoping to get help from universal credit to top up my maternity pay so I could then pay rent as it is not suitable for me to live with my mum and brother. Apparently universal credit don't help you with this if you live with a parent. Is this true? If it is what other help can I get?

Universal claims are made up of elements. These elements include personal, rent, child and disability (may be more) All the elements make up your entitlement.

They then make deductions based on your income.

Living with your parents you may still have a entitlement made up of personal allowance but they won't consider any rent you pay as it needs to be tenancy.

Depending on your earned income you may still get some sort of payment from them.

I would check out "entitled to" benefit calculator.
