Good evening everyone, i had a growth scan yesterday as my fundal measurement has been larger than my dates, at last mw app was 6 cm bigger than it should of been, the growth scan showed all was normal with the baby, apart from around the tummy which was off the scale, the estimated weight was 3lb 6oz, at 28+4, they are going to scan me in another 7 weeks, although have said it is nothing to worry about. how heavy do you think the baby will be at term? DS was 7lb 6 and was born at 37+6.

well, growth scans are not accurate for a start, they said my sils baby was 7lb 8oz 2 weeks ago and was born on sun weighing 7lb 3oz. When I had ds they said he would be 6lb 5oz on due date but was that weight when he was born 2 weeks later so my estimate was over and so was hers, can be wrong by as much as 1lb either way. Babies can put on 1/2 a lb a week in the last weeks so, based on the estimate yours would work out at about 8lb 2oz at the most but could be more or less depending on how accurate the initial estimate is HTH

thanks, thats re assured me a little i got myself in a panic yesterday thinking the baby would put on 1 pound a week, which would make him about 15lb!!!!, i reckon i could cope with 8lb, and hopefully he will come a little early like his brother!. Thanks again

Mine was 2.5 pounds at 26 weeks and had a scan yesterday at 32+6 and he's 6 pounds already. They never put on a pound a week - when they get to about 33 weeks they put on 0.5 pounds a week (so mine will be approx 9.5 pounds at birth). Yours sounds a bit like mine although all measurements have been off the scale since the beginning (head belly femur etc!) and I was also 6 cms bigger than my dates. Don't worry better big than small. Apparently they feed better and sleep more.

Take the weights they tell you with a grain of salt. When pg with ds1 the day before he was born (induced) they told me he was 7.5 pounds. The next day he came out weighing 6 lbs 1 oz. So they were wrong. With ds2 they told me he was 6lb 11 oz when I was 34 weeks pg. They told me he was going to be about 10 pounds and started talking early induction. Well he was born at 39+3 (naturally) and he was 7 lbs. 10 oz.

They told me my ds2 was going to be 7lb 8oz. He was born 5 days later 9lb 6oz!!
They told my sil all through her pregnancy that her dd was small for dates. She was a perfectly respectable 7lb 10oz.
Totally agree to take predicted weights with a very large pinch of salt!!!
