Test result?

Hi can anyone help? We’ve been trying to conceive for a while now, this month my wife was due on 5/6 days ago and period still hasn’t arrived! We did a hcg test kit (I assume a cheapish one) not sure on the brand on the day her period was due But unfortunately it was negative, we’ve not done anymore since as don’t want the heartache of seeing that negative test again! Has anyone else had this where the test was negative but turned out to be false negative? Is it common ? Thank you

Hello - I think if she’s 5 days late you’d have a really strong positive test by now. It’s probably that she ovulated later in her cycle and her period is just delayed. I’d test again in a week if her period hasn’t arrived.
Can’t comment on a false negative - I don’t imagine they are very common as they are designed to pick up hormones released in pregnancy.

Thank you we tested the day before she was due on period (which was negative)and not tested since. We are bow 5/6 days late

@Gtfcwill I’d test again then - if it’s negative it’s more likely she ovulated later than you thought.
