Evap or faint positive?

So, I took this early detection test yesterday afternoon and I’m confused on the results, I know I should have tested using my morning wee but I was in such a rush it slipped my mind😔 I also did have a cup of hot chocolate before testing so maybe my urine was too diluted… there’s clearly a blue line there… I’m going out of my mind trying to figure all this out😕

Personally I think that looks like an evap because of how thin the line is. But I could be completely wrong, it's hard to tell. Did you check the test within the timeframe?

PrincessNA98 · 07/10/2024 06:41

@Gellato That’s what I was thinking but I’ve never known an evap line to have colour I’ve always known them to be colourless or like a greyish/white tone so that’s what’s really confused me

Those tests aren't great for evaps - if it was outside the window you're meant to check it in I'd definitely discount it

PrincessNA98 · 07/10/2024 15:52

@Harriet1989 It’s so frustrating because the line is still there this morning (I have attached a photo) so I really don’t know what’s going on

Is that a new test from this morning? Line looks too thin. I'm sorry, I know how frustrating it is :(

Justnippinginthegaragelove · 07/10/2024 15:55

I had a line like this on a clear blue and I wasn't pregnant. Can you get a pink dye?
Over my many years of IVF/testing I found first response to be the most accurate!

Harriet1989 · 07/10/2024 16:01

Agree with PP - I use FRER too. I found I can still get them on Amazon and not had an issue with them (in 7 years and two pregnancies!)

PrincessNA98 · 07/10/2024 18:44

@Harriet1989 No it’s the same test, I went doctors and he’s worried there’s something wrong :(

@Justnippinginthegaragelove I was thinking of using a digital one because that way I won’t have line eyes I’ll see the words in front of me :(

Harriet1989 · 07/10/2024 18:47

What was the doctor concerned about?

I would take another test in the morning and make sure you're reading it within the window they recommend. If possible a pink dye or Clear Blue Digital

The doctors will have the dip urine test sticks too

PrincessNA98 · 07/10/2024 18:50

@Harriet1989 Because of the faint line and the symptoms I’ve been having today she’s worried I am experiencing an ‘early pregnancy miscarriage’ or it’s implanted in the wrong place causing the thin faint line, She said to me that evap lines don’t usually show a colour so now I’m panicking :( - my doctors don’t test for pregnancy anymore :(

Clearblue evaps definitely show a very dark blue colour at times. If you Google it you can find loads of images online. So don't let the doctor panic you yet. Obviously it's possible you could be pregnant, but just don't rely on that test and don't worry yet about miscarriage etc. Get a pink dye or a digital test.

PrincessNA98 · 07/10/2024 19:31

@PaperSheet I just hate that the doctor said what she did because I’m really panicking now :( I am going to buy a digital tomorrow

That seems odd, if you search on here you will see lots of images of evap lines very similar to that and I'm surprised by a GP showing concern over one test - especially viewing it after the window it's meant to be viewed in.

It's also not a way of diagnosing an ectopic pregnancy or 'pregnancy of unknown origin' via an individual at home test.

I would test again but honestly do have a look at others who have had similar issues with the exact same test as it's likely to put your mind at ease tonight.

PrincessNA98 · 07/10/2024 20:04

@Harriet1989 I looked at it after I’d say about 10minutes but no longer than that

OP posts:
Harriet1989 · 07/10/2024 20:18

Within 10 mins is the guidance for those - but like PP and I have said they're not the best. Retest tomorrow morning with a different brand and good luck x

@Harriet1989 Thankyou! I will keep the thread updated when I know more :)

@Gellato @Harriet1989 @Justnippinginthegaragelove @PaperSheet it turned out to be a chemical pregnancy😔

OP posts:
Gellato · 08/10/2024 18:29

I'm so sorry 😔 They do say you're more fertile after a chemical so all the best for next month 🩷

Justnippinginthegaragelove · 09/10/2024 15:03

@PrincessNA98 I'm so sorry 😔
Best of luck for next month. When I was doing IVF I fell pregnant the month after my chemical and heard lots of similar stories

PrincessNA98 · 15/10/2024 20:21

@Gellato @Harriet1989 @Justnippinginthegaragelove @PaperSheet So I have a very interesting update on this, turns out the hospital was wrong🤬 I’m still very much pregnant, I had bloods taken Sunday & today, my HCG is doubling the way it should & I have a scan booked at the Early Pregnancy Unit on Monday - they estimate me to be around 4 maybe 5 weeks❤️
