Scan at 36 weeks?

Hi all, I'm 28+1 today. Debating between ERCS (DD was breech, born by ELCS), and VBAC. Due date 28th Dec, and I'm 41. Haven't been scanned since 20 week anomaly.

I've realised that I don't have another scan booked in until 36+2. I really want to know what's going on in there before deciding my preference for birth. That seems late to then book in for ERCS, right? Especially as my hospital would want to do it around 39th week, which so happens to be Christmas week! Consultant did mention that I should 'book in early' but without a scan, I won't know whether I need to...

Should I ask for a date soon regardless, and cancel if I decide to go VBAC/DS isn't in any trouble or breech?

It varies so much by trust how and when they book ELCS, but if your consultant recommends booking in early then I would speak to your midwife to request one. Particularly as there are lots of bank holidays around Christmas where elective lists aren't running, so there are more ladies needing slots with less time to fit them in.

If you then decide you don't want it and want to go for a VBAC then you can cancel it.

Speak to your midwife or consultant surely? I’ve never heard of having a routine scan at 36 weeks. My last scan was 20 weeks.
