Currently just started trying for our second and after fertility issues with our first we naturally fell pregnant the first month of trying. I think my last period started between 13th -15th August. We tried not to go crazy keeping tabs as it was pretty intense with the first which I'm now regretting. We only managed to have sex three times on the 22nd, 23rd and 29th August so the latest I could of ovulated would be the 3rd September. My cycles can range from 28 to 40 days with an average off 30-33. Going on from the 13th August I thought I was 7w 3days yesterday but a private scan showed 5w4days. Could it be possible I ovulated later and the scan is right? I need to wait two weeks for the next scan and to do another test. The sonographer obviously told me to prepare for the worst if my dates are correct. I've still got really sore boobs and brushing teeth is a no go. I am off some food but I didn't feel too bad with my little boy so difficult to tell. I know with a missed miscarriage these symptoms can carry on. Just looking for advice and reassurance really as I know it could go either way.

You have had long cycles in the past, when they are longer typically you ovulate later and the luteal phase stays the same. So it could easily be 12+ days out if your cycle was going to be 40 days this time.

No one will be able to say though, it will be a case of waiting and seeing.

I have had both, I have had a missed miscarriage, and I have ovulated late and that resulted in my son.

Yes it is possible - I knew I ovulated late the month I got my BFP and, sure enough, I'm about 12 days behind what I would be going off LMP.

I'm now 15 weeks and I've had 4 separate scans which have all been consistent with this and grown proportionately.

Thank you both for your replies. It's such a long wait hopefully it will be good news.

I was tracking and so sure of my dates as I’d been tracking everything but my dating scan was off (albeit only by 3 days). I’d say with the difference in the lengths of your cycles it could be correct.
