Spotting 7w

I know there are a lot of these threads but I'd really like some advice. I'm 7 1/2 weeks pregnant, had a scan at six weeks that showed a heartbeat. Yesterday and today I've been spotting. The only time this has happened before is when I had an ectopic pregnancy AND VERY EARLY MISCARRIAGES. I know that it is in the right place but with my other healthy pregnancies I never had any spotting at all. Very worried about having a miscarriage, I'm older as well. I can't go to EPU because it's Saturday morning. I would love any advice or support.

No idea what happened with the capitals there

I had light pink spotting around the same time and of course thought the worst was happening. I’m now 31 weeks. I’ve been told it’s quite common as a lot is happening down there at that time, plus hormones are changing. Best of luck.

Thank you so much I really appreciate it

I had spotting when I was just over 6 weeks, it lasted a couple of days and then got a little heavier. It ended up being old implantation bleeding that had just stayed near my cervix.

Everything ended up fine and I now have a healthy 1 year old.

Spotting during pregnancy is terrifying but it happens a lot without there being any problems. If it doesn't stop then call your midwife, or if you don't have one yet, call 111.

Thank you so much calmhare, I'm so grateful to you and pp for taking the time to reply. It's been a rough weekend but today EPU is open so I can speak to them xx

EAPU won't see me until next week. Very upsetting- they say so many women bleed they don't have capacity to scan them all

Oh my god, that's awful. Can you book in for a private scan any sooner? I know Window To The Womb offer scans if you're having bleeding. They can be quite pricey, but if you can afford it then I recommend that to ease your mind

Margaretschlege · 07/10/2024 17:57

Good news - I managed to get a private scan just now (so pricey!!) and baby is looking good. I'm still pink/red/brown spotting, which is alarming, but I'm going to try ignore it now. Thank you again!!!

Amazing news @Margaretschlege glad all looks well! This has really reassured me too, I’ve started pink/brown spotting today too at 7+1.
I had the same last week, went in for early scan and saw heartbeat, it did settle then started again today. They did say it can be normal but that doesn’t make it any less terrifying, does it?!

Hope it eases for you soon x

Margaretschlege · 07/10/2024 18:25

And for you too
So very stressful- it came as a real shock. Fingers crossed for us both xx

I had spotting in early pregnancy more than once and sometimes all was well, sometimes it wasn't.

I had a lot of miscarriages, so I understand how worried you're feeling.

I'm glad you had a scan and saw the heartbeat.

Hi,
I've had some spotting today, I'm 8 weeks with a ivf pregnancy. I had the same about two weeks ago and it stopped. I've been to the epau and had a internal examination, they said my cervix is closed, long and looks healthy, couldn't really give me an explanation. I did have a scan last week and saw a little baby with a strong heartbeat. The epau have booked me in for a scan this Friday. I'm quite concerned.

Spotting really can occur for any reason, hopefully it will stop soon

Rainbowsunshine81 · 08/10/2024 09:51

@CalmHare Just quite worrying when you see it. I'm really hoping the scan will be ok.

It is scary when you see it, you automatically just think the worst is happening.
I hope everything goes well for you. I'm here if you ever need a chat about anything

Rainbowsunshine81 · 08/10/2024 11:05

@CalmHare It definitely is, I really hope so been on a long journey to get here. Thank you very much, I appreciate that. Xx

Margaretschlege · 08/10/2024 20:02

So sorry to hear of others in the same situation- I hope it all works out for us all. Mine is still going and makes me afraid

OP posts:
Tigerlilli · 08/10/2024 21:16

Mine has stopped but I do have some cramping and clear discharge now. Just counting down the days until my next scan.

How are you feeling today @Margaretschlege ?

Margaretschlege · 09/10/2024 09:30

I'm so glad to hear it! Hope it continues as positive news for you. Unfortunately, I am bleeding lightly and have cramps, so feeling quite low.

OP posts:
Tigerlilli · 09/10/2024 20:46

I’ve been back to EPU today, heavier bleeding with clots. Next scan in 2 days, so would agree with feeling low. Do you have a further scan booked?

Margaretschlege · 09/10/2024 21:55

So sorry to hear it. I have one next Thursday but it's a real struggle to hold on to the uncertainty. I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

OP posts:
Tigerlilli · 09/10/2024 22:08

Good luck for your scan next week too, I’m thinking of you. X

Margaretschlege · 10/10/2024 18:30

Progesterone stopped the bleeding in a couple of hours!! Just in case it's helpful for anyone else

Amazing news @Margaretschlege

I've started to use it too and my bleeding has stopped thankfully. Fingers crossed for us both Xx
