Are these signs of labour?

Hi!
I'm 37+6 with my second child. It's been 9 years since I was pregnant with my first so in all honesty, I've forgotten the signs of labour! With her, I actually went for a sweep to be told I was 5cm and then my waters did not break until 10 minutes before she was born, so all the typical signs, I missed.

TMI warning :)

This pregnancy however has been very different (maybe because I'm older now lol?). I went for an appointment Monday last week and was told I was 2/5th engaged and measuring big (but not concerned as had scan few weeks prior and she was fine). She is very low down and has been for a few weeks now. I have got odd random period pains but I'm sure that's just braxton hicks. I feel constant pressure down there but assume it's where she's been so low for such a long period now as also developing SPD. The cervix pain I am getting however is definitely becoming more and more often (at least once an hour) - is this normal? Sorry for TMI but almost feels as though baby is scraping her hand from the inside Blush

Another thing I've noticed is that I'm "leaking" a lot. I haven't really had much DC throughout pregnancy but I have a lot now.

Partner is due to go away for work for a week before paternity leave but is able to postpone it. Do you think I have anything to worry about or is this completely normal for this stage? If you had these pains, can you remember if they were attributed to labour or just another fun side effect of pregnancy!

Thanks xx

I'd recommend going to your maternity assessment unit and check the leaking isn't your waters that have ruptured prematurely (PROM). I had this and labour didn't start. You and baby are at risk of infection if the leaking is your waters and you have to be induced within a certain time period.

Thanks for your reply!

I'm pretty certain that it is not my waters and it's just DC, it's definitely an increased amount though. Sorry for TMI x

I had increased DC, period type pain and also that cervix pain you mention, like lightening crotch, and I know what you mean by that scratching feeling I had it! Almost like being itched from the inside! I had all of that from about 37ish weeks but didn’t give birth until 1 day off 40 weeks and that was an induction x

Thanks so much for the reply! That's makes me feel a little better then- perhaps the other half can leave lol! I was wondering if this meant labour was imminent, been rushing round sorting everything incase haha x

Everyone is different so I wouldn’t say there’s no chance it could be labour but I can say in my own experience it wasn’t! I was in slow labour for a week before I had my daughter and was sure every day was going to be THE day. The last few weeks are such a mental battle! X

I think that's the issue, with my other child I went from having a sweep at 1pm to full on contractions at 4.30 and having her in my arms at 6.30 - very traumatic birth but I didn't really have any "symptoms" per se.

Praying this one is much easier but I definitely don't remember feeling this much pressure/heaviness and like you said, thinking this could be the day!

It really is, I definitely am not the spring chicken I once used to be either haha! X

Hi @pyb1995 - just wondering how this all turned out? Has baby made an appearance yet? Hope you're both doing well if so
