Negative ultra early clear blue digital test 10DPO. TTC after miscarriage - losing hope

Hi All,

I am angry at myself for getting in my head over this as I promised myself I wouldn't. I had a complicated miscarriage in June and we've been TTC again since August. This month feels different, my symptoms are:

  • Nausea especially when trying to eat
  • Extreme hunger
  • I've had lots of lower abdominal cramping and bad lower back cramping but no bleeding or spotting
  • Sniffly nose - constantly runny
  • Raised BBT's since ovulation
  • Constipation
  • Headaches
  • Tiredness
  • Mood swings

I'm aware some of these are just PMS symptoms, but not due on for 5 days. In other pregnancies I have tested positive pretty early, one even 8DPO! So I am losing hope this time, and especially after the negative tests. I had cramping over the weekend (posting this on a Thursday) so surely by HCG would be over 10ml by now?

Has anybody else tested negative on 10DPO with symptoms and gone on to get a positive? I feel like I am going crazy!

You're testing too early, and tbh it's too early to have any real pregnancy symptoms yet.

Getting a negative test at 10DPO doesn't mean you're not pregnant. But stop torturing yourself and try and wait until the day your period is due

Good luck x

I did! It was the one month I didn’t do OPKs though because I was just so stressed with them. Turned out I must have ovulated a week later than I thought I would have. It was only our second month TTC after a MMC in April.

I’m now 16 weeks and baby measurements are constant with the late ovulation!

Edited to add: I don’t think your symptoms are much to do with pregnancy though - to feel pregnancy symptoms your HCG has to on the rise and that would be picked up by a test. You’re possibly just unwell?

Best of luck OP x

All of those symptoms don't typically tend to be caused by HCG until much much later in a pregnancy - after 6 weeks for definite.

You're testing far too early as if you implanted slightly late or ovulated a day later you may still be pregnant and it isn't showing up on a test. I get that you're desperate to be pregnant again but you're just wasting time and money worrying and testing before you could even conceivably pick up a very faint positive.

HCG won’t be high enough at that stage to cause actual pregnancy symptoms, likely just usual PMS or just symptoms that are coincidental. Save money and angst, and wait til your period is late to test, it’s common to take longer to conceive after a MC, it was definitely the case for us. Make some nice plans and keep distracted
