hoping for some advice as just had a 38 week scan and our baby has dropped from 81st percentile to just below 50 so now showing red on chart on badger notes.
i have a consultant appointment tomorrow but wondered if anyone had similar and what I could expect my consultant to say?
everything looked good placenta etc so I’m not worried in that sense but wonder if anyone been in similar position and what happened?

thanks so much

Mine only dropped from 75th to 50th (and was at a presentation scan as she had been breech, they weren't worried about growth beforehand). This was a Friday at 37+6 weeks. They induced me the Monday and said if I had any reduced movements over the weekend to come straight in and they'd induce immediately. I had had episodes of reduced movements previously so they said they were being cautious (blood flow and scans etc all fine) but also said that at that point in pregnancy it wasn't worth the risk. I agreed and she was born six hours after the pessary went in. It turned out I had a small placenta which noone knew beforehand. Best of luck.

My growth scans and measurements after 30 weeks were way out.
I was predicted an 8lb baby and she came out days later at 5lb 15oz!

Thank you so much for coming back to me. This is useful to know just like to be prepared for different senario on people experiences so really helpful to know!

oh wow what a difference! I have had so many friends with wrong growth measurements too usually the opposite to what they say… but just more thinking what the consultant will say with it being “in the red” on the growth chart. They seem pretty relaxed about other things and I think everything looked good!

Definitely. I went to my scan expecting to either be told to go home and await labour if she was head down or to book in for a c section if she wasn't. I hadn't even considered an induction! But it was the right choice for us 😊

Just trust your instincts as you know your body and your baby better than anyone.

No doubt it will be fine and I've heard lots of other stories too about the growth scans being way off but I kept getting told 'all fine, totally average' even though I knew something wasn't quite right.
I had quite a few episodes of reduced movements in the last 6 weeks of pregnancy and ended up being admitted with pre-eclampsia.
When she was born, it turned out the umbilical cord was shorter than normal too.
She's now a healthy 4 year old so all good but definitely just trust your own instincts.

@OneKhakiDreamer how did you get on today? X

OneKhakiDreamer · 02/10/2024 21:18

Yeah was good thanks so much for asking they said they don’t want me to go past due date so hoping baby comes naturally but induction/section booked for 39.4 weeks. But if baby comes before I will try naturally as my preference was for this but section over induction.
potentially a sweep just before 39 weeks but I will see how I feel I guess.
other thing mentioned to be on the lookout for any change in movements and straight to triage.
feeling happy with outcome so far and plan to do some hill walking in the upcoming week haha!
