PRE-ECLAMPSIA - What if still got high BP AFTERWARD BIRTH?

The mum of a baby I look after is still suffering with high BP 4 months after giving birth to her dd. She had pre-eclampsia in late pregnancy and since baby was born, has been having BP checked every 2 weeks.

BP still high but all they are doing at the Drs is recording it. Last BP was 144/96 and it's not come down in the whole 4 months she's been monitored.

Should they be doing something to try and bring it down? Obviously it's annoying for her to go and have this check every 2 weeks but nothing gets done about it.

Any advice welcome

My BP ent down after about 3 weeks but my sister has a 4 year old and is now on meds as her BP never reduced. Perhaps she shoudla sk the GP what plans he is making for long term management?

have they checked her for other causes for the bp, eg kidney damage or anything

mine stayed high until after my second pregnancy - then it went back to normal.

sorry have cross toddler so not much time - I had severe PE and was on bp meds for 5 months post birth. had to be weaned off them. gp said if bp didn't come down I might have to be on them for life. was she ever on meds? has the doc mentioned them? maybe at around 140/90 it's not high enough to medicate?

Mine stayed up after birth. They took me off drugs a day or two after and it went back up so they put me back on the drugs for a couple of weeks and then brought me off them slowly. Mine was similar to your lady.

Sorry and thanks for the replies, ended up tied up after posting but managed a quick glance and updated the mum at pickup and she feels better now.

Thanks again
