Pre Eclampsia- any experiences?

I had a midwife appointment at 34+1 yesterday and I had high blood pressure and protein in my urine so I was sent to hospital for monitoring, and sent home saying to watch out for headaches, sickness etc (both of which I had yesterday, but the general feeling was that I was probably going down with something.) They took some more urine to test, so will that diagnose pre eclampsia? I don't really understand much about it, as I never had problems with dd. This morning I still feel sick and headachey and I can't get my ring on. I have to go to the doctors this morning to pick up my gaviscon prescription so should I ask the nurse to take my blood pressure while I am there? Yesterday it had gone up from 110/62 to 142/92. Also, I don't really understand what these numbers mean . WHat do they relate to?

YES YES YES go to doc straight away if headachy and swollen - another symptom is pain under ribs - sorry in a rush with cross toddler but definitely go and get checked asap - if you didn't get your bp checked this morning go back. will try and write more later.

140/90 is usually the point they start to worry about you so if it has gone up more they may admit you.

Its the bottom number they worry about, anything over 90 is concerning.
The urine test will give them an idea of the % of protein in your urine. You may be asked to do a 24 hour collection to.
Hope it went ok at the doctors.

How are you today little lamb? Hope you are all checked out and are OK...

Lisad123 - I'm no doctor or health professional but I wouldn't say its just the lower number they are concerned about as I had a similar experience earlier in the week my blood pressure was 150/80 & was whisked off to hosp for monitoring. Luckily everythings ok but like little lamb have been told if headaches or swelling come back gotta go straight back as well as having blood pressure done every 2/3 days. Hope your feeling better little lamb

I think they worry if the bottom number goes over 90, or the top number goes over 150.

Thanks. I have managed to panic myself at the thought of pre eclampsia, but had to take dd to have her immunisations today (and very brave she was too ) and I had my blood pressure taken again and it all seems normal. They have a special machine in the reception, and they told me that if I ever get worried to just go and tkae it myself, which is a great reassurance. I think it has made me realise that this baby really is going to be here soon, and I have been tidying like mad! But once everything is organised, I fully intend to take it easy.
