Hi there

I’ve been reading forums for similar situations and found so many people have been in this situation but was wondering if anyone had experienced it with the clear blue also saying 3+ weeks but their early scan is saying they should be further along from the tests.

so from my last period, my flo app says I should be 6w+3 days but today at an early scan (after losing all symptoms and having previous miscarriages before my baby) my private gynaecologist said I was showing 5w+4 days, so no heartbeat was there. He seemed hopeful and said this doesn’t necessarily mean bad news as my dates aren’t far out from one another, so to come back in a weeks time where he’s pretty positive all will be ok, but I can’t help but feel like I’m expecting bad news as my dates are pretty bang on usually for me, every month. I was tracking my ovulation and didn’t have sex out of that time frame, so I don’t understand how the week can be out but he mentioned that after sex it can last in you around 7 days anyways, so it all depends when egg was collected.
what I’m not understanding is, my pregnancy tests were also bang on. Tested 3 days after I was due on (16/09) and it said 2-3 weeks and then tested 4 days later, (20th) which was 5 weeks since last period and it said 3+ weeks which made sense, as in doctors heads that’s 5+ weeks, so technically I should be 6 weeks going on 7 weeks really now. My last period was 16/08 which was 6+3 days ago.
im just confused how i got 3+ weeks on the stick 2 weeks ago today but only now showing 5w 4days at an early scan, when in a doctors mind, they add 2 weeks on. So really I should have been 5 week pregnant 2 weeks ago when the test said 3+.
Anyone had anything similar ?
appreciate any replies xx

I wouldn't put too much onus on the digital tests, they are a guide only and not a reliable way of finding out gestation.
It's very common to measure a week out either way in the very early stages as it's fractions of a mm being measured but if you're 100% sure when you ovulated then it's less likely I'm afraid.
It is probably wise to prepare yourself mentally for every outcome but the only thing that will give you any actual answers is time. You just have to try and stay busy until your next scan and not dwell on things you can't control (I know that's easier said than done)
Good luck

Yes totally agree @sel2223 , thank you. All I can do is turn up to the appointment and deal with whatever news they give me.
Did another test this morning and still said 3+ weeks but not sure how long the HcG levels stay up for if you do miscarry. I’m sure would of gone down by now but who knows.
thanks for the reply Xx

I wouldn’t rely on those tests, they’re only indicative. It’s very common to measure differently at that stage, the measurements are so so tiny. Unfortunately you can only wait and see. Implantation can also happen between 6-12 DPO so that can make a difference, even if you have an idea of ovulation.
