I’m just wondering what having cravings feels like for you? I’m constantly wanting carbs all of the time and takeaway food like pizzas and chips which I’m trying to stop myself doing!
when I do eat these it is literally like heaven in my mouth and it’s like it’s the best thing I’ve ever eaten in my life. Is anyone else like this with cravings? I’m not wanting to eat anything healthy other than a few bits of fruit etc and with me feeling nauseous I’m finding it so hard to eat a lot of fruit and veg. I’m still taking my vitamins so I feel a little better that I’m taking those.

Hi op
in the first trimester I just wanted carbs all the time and I’m someone who normally eats very healthy. When I was driving home from work I stopped at a co op and brought a loaf of unsliced bread and ate it like a chocolate bar whilst driving 😂🤦🏻‍♀️. I struggled with veg too but fruit was okay. I think you just have to try to moderate it a bit but not deprive yourself x

With my first I couldn't stop thinking about lemons! Which is difficult because I wasn't brave enough to eat one. But I did have a lot of lemon water which slightly helped. Oh, and spicy doritos but that was tough because I didn't want the msg. I did have a lot of sickness too with that pregnancy.

My second I had no cravings, but also no sickness 🤷‍♀️

An all consuming obsession with a particular food ( one time it has been pineapples another lemons and oranges). It's like nothing you can think of, you can't get the thought of them out of your head its constantly intruding. You think about it, want to eat it imagine how it tastes and in my case even dream about it, until it drives you mad and you're raiding shops at1am. Because you can't not have the thing you crave. It tastes great of course, like the best ever version of that food.
Weirdest thing is you eat the food again immediately after having had the baby and it tastes completely different, like a half version of the one you have got used to. You don't want to eat it any more, I remember the disappointment the first time of how different it tasted ( it was only me that thought it).

It's so strange.

I think mine went beyond cravings and into pica - I was obsessed with eating ice. I remember sitting in a restaurant once. I had eaten all the ice from my drink and all the ice from dh's drink and I seriously putting my hand into the drink of the complete stranger at the next table and scooping out the ice.

First trimester - all I wanted was fast food or Frosties cereal (which I never eat) but it had to be with ICE COLD milk. I'd put the milk in the freezer for 15 mins beforehand.

Third trimester - Ice cold water... loads of it; ice lollies (5 in one go). So much watermelon; I was eating one watermelon every 2-3 days.

Post pregnancy - I've gone back to chronic dehydration and barely any fruits 😢

For me, it wasn't so much that some foods tasted amazing, but more that that there were a very select few foods that didn't make me want to vomit, and they were all I could beat to eat or drink.

Cravings are more than just a preference.
Pregnancy one and two, I fancied certain thing more and thought they were cravings...

However pregnancy 3, craving was specifically Fentimans Dandelion and Burdock, I would drink 4 large bottles a day. First thing in the morning and last thing at night.

It was an OBSESSION and all I could think about.

Family would drop bottles off if I was running low, and I had to send my husband out at night many a time if I had none left.

I was PANICKED about going to Rome for a couple of days as I wouldn't have any.

This craving cost me circa £400-£500 A MONTH

As soon as baby was born... gone, no cravings.

It actually gave me sympathy for addicts of any description, as there was no way I could stop.

I do believe my body was craving the Dandelion or Burdock botanical properties (high in iron I believe)

I swear my first baby was made of pink grapefruit. I would panic if I had fewer than about 3 in the house. I had to eat at least one every day and it tasted like the food of the gods to me. Now, I don't care if I don't have one for weeks. Our bodies are amazing and odd creations.
