Small subchorionic hemorrhage found - scared

I am 13 weeks pregnant. I had a scan at 8+3 and a scan at 12+2. There was no SCH on my 8 week scan. But on my 12 week scan, there was an inferior “small” SCH noted. It is 1.8 x 2.9 x 1.3 cm. Based on what I’ve looked up, that seems large! But it was noted as small.

I don’t have any symptoms right now (knock on wood). I’ve never had spotting (fingers crossed).

Otherwise, baby was doing very well. Just got the NIPT results back as well and everything is perfect. I just told my friends yesterday!! My doctor just sent me a message this morning with the ultrasound report results. He wasn’t concerned at all and said it was an incidental finding, but I am still waiting to hear from my midwife (it was my family doctor that emailed me the results). But I am so scared. Now I regret telling my friends and anyone. I am so worried. I know SCH can increase risk of miscarriage and pregnancy loss. I am 13 weeks now. Is this something I should be worried about? Will it get bigger or will it shrink?

I heard if it happens later then there are worse outcomes. And mine was found at the very end of first trimester.

I had a SCH with my daughter discovered at 7 weeks and it was absolutely fine. I had a little bit of bleeding which was incredibly stressful but by my 12 week scan it had gone. Try not to worry about it too much (I know easier said than done). Small ones are not likely to be a risk to the pregnancy, I hope everything goes ok for you and your midwife is able to give you some comfort x

I agree with PP, had a bleed at 6 weeks & a scan revealed it was a SCH. By 10 weeks it had cleared on its own! If the doctor isn’t worried that’s good! Try to not let it stress you x

I had a big one at 8 weeks - and bled for about 2 weeks straight. It was so scary and I was sure something would go wrong.

But my 2 year old is happily running around the house now. Try not to worry ❤️

Hi OP, sorry you’re feeling scared. I had one that was found at a scan at 9 weeks. I was rescanned at 11 weeks and it had shrunk and then by 13 weeks it had gone (I was having regular scans for a completely different issue and this was just found at one of them).

I’m on progesterone pessaries already so I never had any bleeding with mine but I was told to not have sex or do any heavy lifting, which I didn’t. I’m almost 16 weeks now and literally no sign of it - my understanding from speaking to my consultant is that they can come and go during pregnancy.
