Extremely itchy 8 weeks pregnant

I am 8 weeks pregnant and currently experiencing extreme itchiness!! Particularly my arms, hands, legs and feet, it started around my ankles. There is no rash. I've also noticed an old tattoo on my leg, the outline of it has risen and is itching, it's like 10+ years old. If still going on by Monday I will ring GP but wondered if anyone knows what might be causing this in the mean time? Haven't changed my washing detergent or anything like that

I also suffered from itchiness in pregnancy, it's awful. No cause was found and it was just put down to being caused by hormonal changes. It's important to mention to midwife though as in late pregnancy itchiness can be a sign of cholestasis, a liver condition. I found menthol aveeno moisturiser gave me a little bit of relief but you have my sympathy, it can drive you mad.

Hi
I had it on the top of my feet like to the point I had to rip my shoes off as quickly as possible to get to it! It just went away in later pregnancy but yes as others have said mention it to midwife

I was extremely itchy in the first trimester. When I mentioned to my midwife, she said it's due to hormonal changes which makes the skin more sensitive. I just kept moisturising my skin and it did get much better.
As PP mentioned 3rd trimester itchiness can be a sign of something more serious.

I'll give that a go thank you!

Yes the feet are awful!! I didn't realise how bad I'd scratched them until I got in the bath earlier and they were stinging! Driving me crazy!

I had this with an old tattoo on my back! I'm now 11 weeks and it's stopped.

It’s so weird isn’t it. I would say mine went in the second trimester, wearing socks made it worse so maybe try wearing sliders or something although now it’s cold might be a challenge!

I itched like I had fleas during my pregnancy. Midwife recommended aveeno body lotion and the relief it gave was almost immediate. It wasn't a menthol one - the big standard green one.

Not really all over body related but I remember my nipples being itchy as hell! I had to resort to using a hairbrush to scratch them, it felt marvellous!
I had to take it to bed with me too.

Omg this is me right now. Flaky dry and itchy. Along with my ankles. Il try aveeno been using the nivea 72 hour one and lush dream cream on ankles and still going crazy. Lying in bed the only thing that helps is a cool section of the sheet 😭. Good fun time.
