Very bad cold and cough - first trimester

Hi, I think this is just a post feeling sorry for myself. I guess also wondering at what point I should contact the GP and if there’s any point.

I am 10 weeks pregnant. I caught this off my 17 month old (who wasn’t that bad so I’m not sure why I am). It started on Sunday as a cold. By Monday a cough too, and the cough has been getting worse. By Tuesday it’s been phlemy, by Wednesday it’s green phlegm I’m coughing up and Thursday, Friday, today it’s been so bad I have been sick from the coughing/phlem. Also since Thursday even just walking to the bathroom makes me a bit short of breath and so much coughing by the time I get back to bed. If I stay still in bed though the coughing is minimal and I feel semi human albeit very tired.

Has anyone had this while pregnant? I don’t know if it’s still just a virus or if it can develop into something that can be treated. So far I’m taking paracetamol once a day maybe less but I’m mostly not in pain so it feels pointless. At 9 weeks the midwife said that’s the only thing safe to take. I’m just used to having a cold for 3-4 days and then managing to get by, this has wiped me out and I feel worse now on day 7 than I was on day 2-3.

I had a scan on Friday (yesterday) due to disappearing symptoms for the last fortnight (well some could be masked too) and thankfully it’s still on track and ok for now. No idea how though the coughing was that bad on Thursday.

I'm 14 weeks and feel like I've had one thing after the other this pregnancy

First of all had an awful sickness and diarrhea bug which lasted over a week, then have been super congested and full of a cold I can't shake since the schools went back.

Now got a horrible cough and sore throat.

Fed up.

Think our immune systems must just be so weakened giving all the nutrients and protection to our unborn babies

@sel2223 I hope you feel better soon. I think you have a point that our immune systems are low right now. I was never this bad in my last pregnancy, then again I now have a super spreader in the house (17 month old who goes to nursery).
