Hi!
I think I’m around 4 nearly 5 weeks pregnant. first day of last period was 23/08.
period was due 23/09 as my cycles are around 30 days.
I took a test 25.09 and got a faint positive. Also increase in weeing.

I took another yesterday and clear blue said 1-2weeks pregnant.

i had slight cramping yesterday and today. Then today I had a tiny bit of brown look discharge in pants. Then this afternoon I’ve wiped and had a dark red looking discharge/blood on paper. 2 kinda spots in pants. I’ve seen been for a wee again, wiped and had the faintest brown spot on paper.
I’ve had cramp today which feels like my usual period pains.
I did have sex last night.

there’s so much conflicting stuff online. I don’t know if I need to worry (which I am) or if this is normal or what. (First time with a positive test!)

Cramping is so common that early as implantation happens, and spotting can be too! I had this at 4-5 weeks.. (sorry for the TMI photo but hopefully it brings reassurance!) and I'm now 14 weeks! If it's red blood, that's when it needs to be checked. Brown is old!

Hi OP,

It's really difficult to tell at this early stage.

Many women do get some spotting early on (some get it throughout pregnancy) and it's nothing to worry about. Normally this is brown in colour which is normally old blood and it's usually there when wiping.

If the blood is bright red and starts to get heavier (as in you have to wear a pad) and/or you see any clots, then that is more concerning. Also if it is accompanied by cramping that can be a sign of something untoward (but not always).

The only way to tell is to give it time unfortunately - it's pointless going for a scan before 6 weeks as there is usually nothing to see so it does nothing to reassure you.

@AnnaM666 The first time I had sex after getting a positive test I was cramping and a little spotting of bright pink/red blood straight after. The next morning it had all stopped and just had the normal odd cramps. I read that the cervix is very sensitive in the first few weeks of pregnancy and prone to be irritated and can bleed. Try not to overthink it and wait for the 6/7 week scan 💓💓
