I'm due to be induced and have a stinking cold and sore throat which my nursery child has brought home.
Will they still do it, do you think?

Unless it's COVID I can't see why not?

Yes I was full of something when I got induced, coughing every 5 mins. I was actually eating lockets in labour!
I reasoned that the 2 antibiotic drips I was having for group b strep couldn't do any harm to me and baby and also that being in hospital they would pick up on any complications. Are you asthmatic? Don't forget inhaler if so. The gas and air set mine off something terrible.

I don't have any tests but I don't think it's Covid,
No temperature just typical cold symptoms bunged up nose, cough and sore throat with hoarse voice.

Of course they would. They also would if it’s Covid. If you’re not in already it’s worth telling them you feel unwell - they may want to do a Covid test just to be certain.

Not asthmatic but group b strep positive and over 40 which is why the induction so will be on antibiotics.

They didn't do a covid test on me and I was clearly unwell. It was last November and tbh half the hospital staff were full of it too. They didn't seem concerned in the slightest.
Do you need to be induced though? I wasn't induced because of GBS, they offered it to me because I'd had really fast labour in the past but didn't say I had to have it.

I'd probably ask to delay the induction by a day or 2 if it were me. Not the start you need to having a newborn and no urgent/pressing need for the induction medically.

That's the reason for my induction, I had strep b in my last pregnancy and gave birth very quickly not having enough time for the antibiotics to work and my baby was in hospital for a week very sick so the intention is to have the antibiotics for 4 hours and then induce labour, so I do want the induction to reduce the chance of this baby getting infected.

I see makes perfect sense. I didn't regret my induction but don't think I'd want another one. I managed with gas and air and only went for pethidine once they put me on the hormone drip but wish I could have had gas and air for my waters being popped!! Wasn't pleasant but over quickly.
Hope it all goes well. Have a good music playlist and everything you need to be comfy. Fluffy socks!!

I felt quite calm and in control for my induction don't let any horror stories put you off. If you've had a previous really fast labour it's more reassuring having the induction if that makes sense.
