Hello,

A bit of background on me, I lost my firstborn at 33 weeks due to a severe brain malformation. It was caused by a faulty gene.

Today I recieved my blood test results which told me that my B12 levels were low. The normal range is 200-600ng/l. My level was 187ng/l. I have been prescribed supplements which I will start today. This time last year my levels were in the range of 500 so they've dropped quickly.

I am terrified that my baby will have a brain abnormaility as this is a side effect of low B12. I have my 20 week scan in 2 weeks but I can't cope. I'm so sad.

Any reassurence much appeciated

I’m so sorry for your previous loss, how awful 🥺 Of course that’s in your mind with your pregnancy now. On the B12 though, I don’t think you have reason to worry - if your levels were really low or they were worried they’d put you on injections. In my trust normal is 180-770 so you’re within that. Wishing you the best of luck with this pregnancy x
