Hi,

I'm having a sweep on Monday I will be 39+5. I was just wondering what others experiences were of having a sweep.. did it work and is it really painful?

Most people I know who have had one have said it's just uncomfortable but I've heard others say it's really painful.

Mine wasn’t painful, just uncomfortable like a vaginal examination. And yes, it worked.

Mine was just uncomfortable, like lots of pressure
but nothing happened and I ended up being induced

Mine was just uncomfortable, I wouldn't say painful and it worked!

Uncomfortable rather than painful. I went into labour 2 days later, but at my sweep the midwife said baby was very low and my cervix was favourable so she didn’t think I’d have to wait long. I think it depends on how soon you’d naturally go into labour anyway as to whether it ‘works’.

How far along were you when you had the sweep?
