Pregnant after WLS (Gastric Sleeve)

Hi!

I am 6+1 pregnant and had a gastric sleeve in Feb 24.

Is there anyone else who has had WLS and is pregnant, or has had the baby and give some tips and tricks on getting though pregnancy?

I am not concerned about putting on weight, just making sure I get the right things for baby!

Thanks x

Hi @PipsKat88

I had a GS in summer 2022 so not quite the same position as you but am currently 14 weeks pregnant.

I was very open about it from my first appointment and the advice I got was mainly regarding supplements and eating the right foods first for example protein and fruit/veg. You often absorb less nutrients following WLS so it's about getting as much goodness as you can to your baby.

I have put on quite a bit of weight this year so keen to not go mad and pile on loads of weight during pregnancy but I'm not dieting, just being mindful and trying to make good choices.

In the first trimester I had quite alot of sickness so actually lost weight but obviously this isn't ideal at all as it's even less nutrients getting to the baby. I've found little and often was the way to go with keeping more food down.
