NT Scan & Bloods - increased risk result

Has anyone come back with increased risk on the combined screening? :( my results came back with 1 in 73 chance of down syndrome and I had the NIPT test yesterday. I'm so worried and stressed about it. NT was 3.2mm, papp-a 2 MoM, hcg was 3 MoM. I'm 38 but was 34 when the embryo was created and it's an IVF pregnancy

I'm stuck in a rabbit hole of doom on Google and hoping to hear anyone's experience

Hi OP,

Didn't want to read and run as I know this must be such an anxious time for you. The wait for the NIPT results can feel like the longest time ever!

My understanding with the combined screening is it combines the NT measurement with your blood test results and your current age.
I don't think it factors in the age of the embryo, it will just be the current information at the present time so age 38 will have bumped it up a bit.

I'm 41 and pregnant with my second and just went straight for a private NIPT as I knew the combined screening tests would come back as high risk and id be stressed to death. It took a week for the NIPT results to come back and I was low risk for everything, such a relief.

Good luck and hopefully you will get the same good news soon!

Hia! Sorry to hear your dealing with yet more worry on top of ivf! To offer some reassurance my first preg (also ivf) I had a 1/70 chance, freaked me out a lot too and the 10 day wait for results was awful- however all was ok as I’m sure it will be for you too- it’s still only like a 1.5% chance (I think- maths isn’t my strong point) but that’s still a 98.5% chance all is great!

🤞all is well but I think all will be great and it’s just one more hurdle that you need to get over after the millions of others youve smashed as an ivf warrior!

just to say it is from the age of the embryo as they wouldn’t let me do the test without knowing both the date of the original egg collection and the date of transfer

if I understand from what they told me during my bloods/scan- they take both into account with an ivf pregnancy but the original date is weighted more .

Hi OP, how did you go with finding out answers and the pregnancy? I am in a very similar position with almost identical markers (NT, HCG and Papp-A) and cannot find anyone with similar results or information on this. I hope all went well for you. Thanks.
