Anyone had Polyps in pregnancy?

Hi there,

I'm currently 13 + 2 weeks.
It's my 5th pregnancy, 2 stillbirths and 2 children at home.
I've bleed on and off with this pregnancy.
Had multiple scans for the bleeding and at 10 weeks the doctor found a polyp,no other information other than that.
I was wondering if anyone can give me there stories on polyps in pregnancy.
I'm bleeding again and was wondering how often and how much blood and when to worry if that makes sense.
I'm a nervous weak.
I don't want to be moaning to my partner all the time and plus he works away so home alone.
Thanks all xxx.

@Cathmorg84 so sorry to hear about your losses. I had a polyp in my first pregnancy and if I’m honest it caused me a lot of stress and worry. It was found at 9 weeks when I went to EPU with bleeding, but they also did a swab and found I had BV. Have you had a swab done? The reason I ask is because the most bleeding I had was at that 9 week mark and I think the BV was irritating the polyp and causing it to bleed more. Was put on antibiotics and didn’t get BV again. I was also seen by colposcopy a few weeks after the polyp was found to have a closer look at it. Has anyone suggested checking it properly? Anyway, it caused bleeding maybe a handful of times during my pregnancy, and childbirth removed it (no longer there at my next smear). The polyp itself shouldn’t cause any complications though, but of course if you keep bleeding you may find that a worry x

Thank you for replying hun, I had a swab when the polyp was found but was clear. They said they don't remove them until after pregnancy and I'm also having a c-section as I've had 2 previously. It seems to bleed maybe once a week/fortnight (if that's what this bleeding is).
It's bright red when I wipe and some in the toilet. It's slowly turning brown now.
I've added images sorry if TMI.
I'm in constant panic xx.

I had a polyp in my last pregnancy, I won't lie, it was a bit of a nightmare.
It caused a lot of heavy bleeding - dark red blood on and off, often with clots (much worse than your pictures). I was in and out of EPU for the first 10 weeks before they finally found that it was a polyp causing the bleeding. They initially said they would just wait and remove it after I'd given birth, and said they often fall off during labour anyway.

But with me, at about 16 weeks the polyp had grown so large that I could feel it protruding between my legs! I ended up having surgery to remove it as they felt the weight of it was more of a risk to the pregnancy than a surgery would be. Luckily for me, the surgery was really simple, they removed it and the bleeding stopped and baby was totally fine - she is now my almost 3 years old DD.

I'm sorry to share the worst bits, but I do clearly remember when I learnt I had a polyp reading thread like these was sooo super helpful and kinda prepared me for what might happen.

But, having said that, my case was quite extreme and worst case scenario. The vast majority of people don't have any issues - they just have a bit of bleeding and then it simply falls off in labour or gets taken off afterwards.

@AnnieStar12 gosh what a nightmare for you! As you've said, my experience was what you've explained - some bleeding, and it came off during childbirth. As I said above though, it caused me a lot of anxiety with the bleeding. It's just one of those unfortunate things I'm afraid @Cathmorg84 x

I had one burst whilst I was pregnant with dd. Had a lot of pain as if I was miscarrying. I had had a miscarriage before dd. Scan showed the polyp had burst. Dd was born healthy at 38 weeks and is now 11. We did have a few other problems during pregnancy including her trying to come out at 28 weeks but that wasn’t related to the polyp
