Just wondering if anyone has any magical tips for severe tooth pain, paracetamol not cutting it. Long story short my root canal has failed and my dentist can't see me until Wednesday. Also will the infected tooth harm my baby? TIA

Poor you- very painful! Not sure if you are pregnant or if you meant you are breastfeeding, so obviously check these ideas depending, but you can stagger doses of ibuprofen and paracetamol to help with pain. Check online for how to do this. Clove oil helps some people. Boiled- but left until it’s just warm- salt water used every hour or so as a mouth wash. Corsodyl mouthwash. Ice packs.

You can also check for a walk in dental hospital near you, if you can’t wait. I have had to do this in the past and the wait was a few hours but well worth it. Hope you get sorted soon.

I had an infected partial erupted wisdom tooth's Couple of weeks back. (Also pregnant) Swore by swishing with salt water, as salty as you can handle and like warm water several times a day. Eased it immensely xxx

You can't take ibuprofen during pregnancy unfortunately. Can you contact your Gp for some low dose codeine? It is only problematic for baby when taken for prolonged periods and close to delivery.

I was allowed cocodamol for a similar infection while pregnant, you can get it OTC but chat to the pharmacist depending how far along you are - I think they say don't take opiates if near to term?

I also found putting an ice pack on the affected bit of my jaw really helped. I used to sleep with my cheek on one 😭
Seconding rinsing often with salt water.
Hope you get seen soon OP. It's the most awful pain, I know. I've found dental hospitals have really high thresholds for walk-ins but definitely worth a shot if you are pregnant and especially if there's an actual abscess with pus visible.

Thanks guys! Ice pack on the cheek has really helped and I'll try the salt water. Can't take ibuprofen because pregnant 🤰🏻
