Bleeding/spotting at 6 weeks

Hi all, looking for some advice to see if anyone else has been in a similar situation and what the outcome was.

For context, this IVF with a fresh embryo transfer.

Currently 6 weeks pregnant (today) but since Wednesday last week had spotting which got slightly heavier on Saturday but nothing like a full period. Still some over the weekend and today but back to being lighter. We've been testing and still getting positive results (need to stop but just waiting around is driving us both mad), however did another tonight and the test line is lighter than previous tests 😭.

Had some slight cramps on Saturday night but nothing major.

Got my bloods taken at the clinic today so waiting on the results but I'm keen to know if anyone else has had a similar experience x

I had spotting/ bleeding with my second baby. He wasn’t an IVF baby though. I phoned epu and they told me to keep an eye on it getting heavier and phone back if I had bad cramps, was sick or had an upset stomach. I had 2 blood tests taken 48 hours apart to check it all.

My baby was fine and there was no reason for the bleeding but i bleed from 5-6 weeks and then again at 7-9 weeks.

It’s incredibly worrying but I would suggest stopping with the testing just now. What have the clinic said?

As easy as it is for me to say, try keep yourself busy, focus on other things just now. 🤞 for you!

@SarahMc9x

Sorry to hear you're going through this lovely, I know how you feel and it's awful.

I'm in a similar boat, I'm 5 weeks 5 days and since I found out a week and a half ago have had an array of bleeding.
It started brown for five? Days maybe. Then stopped for three. Then a few days ago swapped between pink and brown, and today it's a light red when wiping!

It's honestly traumatising. I've been booked in for an early scan but it's not until Friday to be over six weeks.

I will give you a positive story though, I've bled with two of my three previous babies who are now healthy 4 and 2 year olds🥰 there is hope.

I'm currently 6 weeks 3 days and experienced this last week. It started with brown spotting on Tuesday, followed by red bleeding with some tissue in when I wiped on Wednesday and then back to brown spotting until Saturday morning. I also did HCG tests 48 hours apart which showed rising levels and had an ultrasound yesterday where we heard the heartbeat. It turns out I have a subchorionic hematoma, which are apparently quite common in IVF pregnancies. I even read a study that said 50% of IVF pregnancies have bleeding.

I hope everything goes well with your tests. I know how anxiety inducing it can be so wish you all the best.

Oh and ignore the pregnancy test at this stage and wait for HCG or ultrasound! I also did a pregnancy test and felt it was lighter but they're not reliable to compare day by day as could be a number of factors making them appear differently!

Hi everyone, thanks for the replies, its all been so helpful.

Wanted to post an update, got blood results back yesterday and my hgc levels were higher than they would expect so they arent concerned.

I ended up getting a scan booked for the early pregnancy unit today, and thankfully all was fine, we even got to see the heartbeat which was amazing.
They couldnt see any obvious reasons for the bleeding but just told me to keep an eye on it.
Still bleeding and its a bit darker. So relieved though.
We have another scan with the clinic we did ivf with a week today which might be internal so they may be able to see whats caused the bleed, but the hospital did say sometimes they never find out.
Thanks again all xx
