Toilet Rim Block contaminated my food, which I’ve ate it!! 18 weeks pregnant

Hi everyone,
I am a little bit worried, as I’ve eaten food that taste like toilet rim block that I’ve purchased in the shop. I’ve put my food shopping with the toilet rim block together and my croissant has tasted a little bit like that. I am not sure if somehow the package from toilet rim block was open and went to my bag of croissant or the smell just went through it, as my partner just put that in the toilet not thinking of checking if was properly sealed.
Would it anything happen to my baby? Should I contact anyone about that or I should be fine ?

This could be a long few months.

HelloMiffy · 22/09/2024 16:58

You're fine, stop worrying. You could probably lick a toilet rim block every day and be fine (not advised but you know what I mean)

There's a lot of these OTT threads at the moment - I wonder if they're the work of the same person?

But honestly, just forget about it. It's all fine

BurbageBrook · 22/09/2024 16:58

You'll be fine. If you'd been poisoned by it, you'd be puking or in pain and you would definitely know about it! (Pregnant or not...)

Oh ffs 😂

Calliopespa · 22/09/2024 16:59

It’s most likely just the smell op. Can you check if the pack was sealed? If it’s just the smell, the truth is these days we are all breathing in loads of chemical the whole time.

Oh sorry I see now you can’t check. I think it was probably just the smell.

Bloody hell. Give your head a wobble. Work on your anxiety.

You’ll be fine.

menopausalmare · 22/09/2024 17:02

So long as you didn't dunk your croissant in the toilet, you'll be fine.

Thanks for all the answers :) I thought it would not be anything bad, but I am bit anxious in this pregnancy as I’ve had etopic pregnancy last year and it’s still sometimes overshadowing this one.

Also when we are pregnant our sense of smell is massively heightened. I used to detect things that I can now very, very dimly pick up because pregnancy made me aware of those “ notes” in the smell of certain things, but before pregnancy I’d never been aware of it. It’s basically like being a dog for 9 months. Your dog probably feels stressed like this after every meal!😂

Honestly some of the people on here are so unsympathetic. Literally why comment just to belittle and take the piss? This should be a space where people can come and share anything they want, shame on you who can't find the empathy to support someone in need.
OP I feel like it was probably just the smell, which can be really heightened in pregnancy. I reckon if it was actually contaminated you would have totally known and not eaten it x

Not to worry. It’s very normal to be a little anxious,

I'm sure it's just the smell, those things are very over scented. And unnecessary, if you are looking to save on money and chemicals in your home!
