I have found out VERY early that I am pregnant and due early June (I am only 10dpo today) and found out yesterday I am pregnant (22 Sept)

Wanted to start this thread for those of you who have also just found out :) I found the thread when I was pregnant with my son super helpful!

I'm Lexie, 32, have a 14 month old son so am just squeezing in 2 under 2 :)

I too had a little tiny bit of blood today, a couple of hours after the scan. Dr Google 'it will most likely be because there was already blood pooled higher in the vagina and the probe dislodged it'

Fair enough, didn’t bleed at all yesterday, just this afternoon.

stressful

Needcoffee24 · 31/10/2024 15:51

@MummyMammoth absolutely, do you have another scan booked? Don't think I can wait till 12weeks.

Got one next week in the reproductive medicine centre. This weeks was just a private one.

Was it the next day?? It was a full pad. Sorry TMI…

CAM8891 · 31/10/2024 16:13

@MummyMammoth do you have pain as well? Hope you're ok x

MittensForKittens123 · 31/10/2024 16:16

Yes, it was the next morning for me. It wasn’t a full pad though tbh.
You could call the EPU, they should be able to put your mind at ease.

Spoke with the EPU, they said unless it’s a pad an hour just stay home and rest 🙈 the doc didn’t even take my name…

@CAM8891 had some cramps, thanks for checking in.

Hi everyone,

Congratulations on your pregnancies. @MummyMammoth hope everything is ok with the bleed.

I have been lurking for a while but scared to comment, although it is starting to feel real now. I am 9 weeks + 1 day according to a private scan I had last week, tracking ahead of where I should be LMP wise by a few days. Took my husband and one year to conceive, hence the username which I haven't quite changed yet! Very excited to finally be pregnant!

I have been experiencing bad nausea and vomiting which has been getting worse and today I caved and called the GP to get some anti nausea medication. They have put me on cyclizine - anyone else been on this? Did it help?

So far all 3 scans were at the epu. But I'm thinking of booking a private one at 9 half weeks.

Congratulations! Cyclizine helped every so slightly but I was still being sick multiple times a day on it. Went back and now I’m on Prochlorperazine and it’s life changing. I’ve heard good things about Xonvea too. I
hope you feel better soon, it really is awful.

Hi all, just went to my first booking appointment with my midwife today and thought I should share this considering there's been a few people on here talking about getting extra private scans (this is specifically about cases where everything is fine with the baby, but one wants the scan just for reassurance).

At the appointment, my midwife told me not to book unnecessary ultrasounds (especially internal ones) as apparently they come with a small risk of heating. She said I should always try get the sonographer to only use 'B-mode' or 'M-mode' in any scans I need to reduce the risk of heating (unless absolutely nesessary to use doppler). The conversation came about because I mentioned wanting to book extra ones every other week or so till week 12 for reassurance.

Obviously many early ultrasounds are carried out because the benefits outweigh the risks, but I just wanted to pass on what she said to everyone on here considering getting extra scans because it came as a real shock to me considering even the NHS website says they're completely safe.

I did do some research afterwords to make sure she wasn't one of those midwives that don't necessarily give very factual information and was just scare mongering and I've found the following few articles. I have not cross checked it or done vigorous research on the topic, so advise you all to do your own research on the matter but I thought I should put these in just in case:

That’s amazing thank you. I have regular ultrasounds anyway from the hospital and the EPU.

Its always risks vs benefits with any medical procedure. As long as you’re seeing a registered sonographer it should never be a problem.

Best to get checked if you have problems in pregnancy than not have a scan just because you’re worried about heating that may or may not occur.

Hi, can I join? I'm due 8th June 2025 based on early scan I had done at 7w6d. Strong heartbeat:) shit scared as had a missed miscarriage earlier in the year but also excited. Booking appt next week, hopefully 12 week scan later in November

HystericalDinosaur · 31/10/2024 21:12

I've always been told ultrasounds carry no risk. I'm having lots of extra private ones because of recurrent miscarriages and anxiety. 😬

Hampshiremummy2 · 01/11/2024 05:03

Hi all, hope it's ok to join, just found out I'm pregnant with bub number 3 😬 will be due around 9th July
So far the nausea is my worst symptom it was the give away sign for me. Defo wasn't this early or this bad with my other two.
Had some mild cramping in the last day too, but trying not to panic as I'm pretty sure that's normal?
Wishing you all well and good luck to those with scans and blood tests coming up

Hi everyone,
just looking for some advice - last night I began spotting it seemed like quite a lot as it was in the toilet but it was a pinky colour. It stopped after around 15 minutes, but this morning I’m now spotting brown and I have this awful pain that seems to start under my shoulder blade and into my shoulder. I’ve not had any cramping but I’m unsure on what to do. Do I ring epau? The midwife? Doctor? I had an ectopic in May and it looks as though this pregnancy is heading that way with the shoulder pain.

I would definitely phone EPU for advice. Hope you're okay x

CAM8891 · 01/11/2024 07:29

@ThisElatedMintDreamer please phone EPU. If you've had a previous ectopic they'll scan you again. Hope you're ok xx

Hampshiremummy2 · 01/11/2024 07:50

@ThisElatedMintDreamer I agree with the others, id start with epu and take it from there. Sending much love

ThisElatedMintDreamer · 01/11/2024 08:32

Thank you everyone. I’ve spoken to the out of hours midwife clinic, they’ve told me to ring epu once they open and ask for an urgent scan. They’ve said there’s no guarantee I’ll get seen today but hopefully with my history they can slot me in. I’ve now just got to sit and wait until epu open at 9.30, the next hour is going to feel like an eternity x

Thank you! I have started today so we will see, if it doesn't work I know what to ask for. It is awful but I feel bad complaining because we wanted this so badly and tried for so long!
