Gestational sac and yolk sac seen but no embryo seen

I had my last periods on 29th July, however they were 12 days above the expected date (irregular).
I missed my periods in August and checked the pregnancy test on 15th September that I am pregnant. My gp advised to book an ultrasound asap. But only a gestational sac and a yolk sac was seen with no baby yet. I am booked in for an ultrasound after 2 weeks again.
I am really worried.

Not quite sure why your GP advised a scan asap?
Are you bleeding? Pain?

How many weeks did the sonographer say you are according to the scan findings?

I am neither having any pain nor bleeding.
According to Sonographer I could be 6 weeks.

You could have ovulated late. Without tracking you wouldn’t know. I know it’s hard but try to wait the two weeks for the next scan. You could find it’s progressing well by then. The alternative is that it’s stopped, however with irregular cycles and no other information it could be good news for the pregnancy. It’s just a case of waiting though.

Thanks for the advise, hoping for the best.

Unless you know when you ovulated/ when you conceived it's impossible to know how it will go unfortunately.
It's possible you conceived 3-4 weeks ago making you around 5-6 weeks now.
Or you conceived further back than that and it's unfortunately not grown and is a blighted ovum/missed miscarriage.
Until you have a rescan you won't be able to know unfortunately. I have been through this myself so I do understand it's hard.

As your previous period came late you could have ovulated later last month too so perhaps you are just so early stage that it cannot be seen yet. They should be able to tell what's happening when you have your scan next time. Until then I would concentrate on taking pregnancy vitamins, eating healthy and exercising. Whatever happens happens.
