Pregnant trapped gas omg

What on earth is this!

Feel like I'm dying!

The pain is excruciating. My back. Chest. Tummy. I can't breathe or cope with this horrendous pain! Help what can I do?

I've taken Gaviscon but not helping. Been like this for over an hour. I've tried rocking, walking, taking a breather outside but nothing. The tightness in chest tummy and back is awful. The pain in back radiates from bottom of my back to my shoulders 😭

Anyone else experienced this?

How far along are you?? It's not labour is it? Labour pains are alot like trapped wind?!
Hopefully not. Glass of Andrews best thing for trapped gas that stuff is magic and it is safe to use when pregnant.

whoops2024 · 22/09/2024 00:08

I'm 33 weeks. I went to triage this morning for checking and cervix closed, baby was moving well and no signs of waters. They've sent my urine off and a swab to check for infection. They seemed happy which makes me feel like it's not Labour 🙏

Oh is it! I don't have any 😫 will need to get some tomorrow. This is horrendous feel like I need to do a huge burp (sorry TMI) but absolutely nothings happening 😫

Another reason I think it's not Labour is that the pain is consistent (not on and off) literally just there and won't go 😖

You can do like a bridge position (look it up its like a stretch / yoga ish move) and rub your tummy to move the gas but whether or not that will be comfortable that far along I'm not sure.

Twinkletwinklelil · 22/09/2024 02:05

Don’t have any rennie? Deflatine?
ginger ale? Peppermint tea?

I have had pretty bad trapped gas episodes- esp at night!! Get someone to really rub your back upwards to help if you need to burp it out!
try different positions too.
it’s horrible.

NewIdeasToday · 22/09/2024 04:38

It sounds like the pain you get with gallstones. I’d contact your GP for some advice.

FrogOfFrogHall · 22/09/2024 05:41

Peppermint tea works wonders for me. Hope it is just gas and that you're feeling better soon

BC2603 · 22/09/2024 05:49

You can take wind-eze I believe which helped me and also I find a hot water bottle on back/sides helps disperse the gas.

MyBrasTooTight · 22/09/2024 05:55

I had this a bit in my first pregnancy! The most relieving thing I found was kind of rocking forwards and back in the cat/cow yoga position and then pushing right back on my haunches! So much relief 🙈 or sometimes happy baby pose as much as you can with a bump! Hope you get some relief

whoops2024 · 22/09/2024 06:03

Thanks all for your messages!

I ended up coming into triage again at around 2:30am as I just couldn't cope anymore and thought let me get checked god forbid it was labour.

Monitored baby all okay🙏 checked cervix again and still closed. Sent off urine samples etc to check for infection.

I've had paracetamol, codeine and oramorph because I am in that much pain. It hasn't even relieved it a little bit 😭

They gave me peppermint drink to see if it is gas but absolutely nothing is coming out.

They don't want to send me home so I'm staying in and hopefully a consultant will come and see me at some point today.

Awful pain 😫

I’m in pain due to indigestion, been awake all night 🙁 and still in a bit of pain! It’s awful, even harder when you’re pregnant as well. Hope you feel better soon 😊

Snozzlemaid · 22/09/2024 06:48

I second gallstones. Sounds very much like that.

Olika · 22/09/2024 07:25

Oh gosh sounds horrible. Make sure they check for Gallstones.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 22/09/2024 16:01

How are you feeling now op?

shellyleppard · 22/09/2024 16:03

Op any updates??? Sounds like gallstones, hope you get sorted soon x

whoops2024 · 22/09/2024 18:04

Hi all.

Still here had more monitoring.
Baby is well thankfully.

Have had scans booked in for next week to check for anything untoward.

The pains subsided on my back. It's now just randomly on my tummy every so often but no where near as excruciating.

I'm waiting to be discharged and if I go home and feel awful again they said just to go back in. I'm so ready to get home shower and go to bed! 🥱

Thanks for your messages and checking in 🫶🏼

Glad you are both OK. Hope the pain goes soon. I know the feeling of being in hospital for 24hr observation who knew lying in a bed for a day straight could be so exhausting but it is isn't it!!!
Best wishes op x

shellyleppard · 22/09/2024 21:31

@whoops2024 so glad you are both okay. Have they checked for gallstones??? Sending hugs x

Semele5069 · 22/09/2024 22:42

I get this and it’s always connected with heartburn/indigestion (although now I’m wondering about gallstones too!).

Im on omeprazole and don’t get it when I’m taking them daily, but if I run out it comes back with a vengeance. I feel like a lot of people don’t understand how painful heartburn and indigestion can be u less they’ve experienced it themselves- there’s a reason people call ambulances thinking they’re having a heart attack!

Other than omeprazole I find a large dose of Gaviscon Advance works best and you might have to repeat the dose if it doesn’t help initially. A GP told me it was the best over the counter remedy.

whoops2024 · 23/09/2024 10:07

Thank you @Semele5069 and I agree it's the worst pain and so scary!

Today I've woken up now with just the severe back pain and an excruciating headache. They've called to get me in today for a baby scan to check baby.

I will mention how horrendous I feel and that I can hardly walk! See what they suggest. Hopefully they do the routine check or blood pressure and urine too to rule out preeclampsia because this headache is horrendous.

I'm so done 😫
