braxton hicks- lots of them- does it mean anything at all?

i am 36 +3 with dd2 and all weekend my uterus has felt rock hard, i have been getting one bh on top of the other to the point where it was actually quite uncomfortable (NOT painful though). also slight period pains. didnt really have this with dd2 so wondering if it means anything at all, esp in terms of whether i should be expecting baby sooner rather than later?

I am getting this too at 34 weeks.I don't know what causes them, as I too didn't have any with dd. This morning I was worried something was wrong as I've been having braxton hicks all night and I woke up with terrible cramps and felt horribly sick but I think I may have picked up some kind of virus. I am seeing the midwife this afternoon anyway so I will ask then.
