Worried about MMC

I conceived naturally in July 2022, unfortunately found out at 1st scan (should have been 13 weeks) baby had stopped growing at 8/9 weeks. Had to have surgical management as medical didn't work.
fast forward 2 years and I have had to pay privately for corrective surgery to fix ashermans syndrome caused by MMC surgery, and finally am pregnant again via IVF after 2nd FET attempt.

i should be 10w2d today but feel soooo worried the same thing has happened again. I had a scan at 6.5 weeks and another at 8w5d. I have a scan booked for this coming Wednesday.

all of my symptoms seem to have slowly gone over the last few days- boobs no longer sore, no sickness, no tiredness. I don't feel pregnant.

can anyone offer reassurance?

how can I trust my body when it deceived me so awfully last time.

I’ve also experienced a MMC and sympathise OP. It’s common for symptoms to ease as you near the end of the first trimester. Hope the scan goes well Wednesday x

Hey - I can’t help on the MMC side but I know the anxiety after ivf is bad as it is. If it helps at all, all my symptoms kind of went away at 9 weeks and then they came back with vengeance at 12 weeks. I would try and leave 2 weeks between your scans - what I came to realise is they are just a snapshot in time and don’t give you lasting reassurance. I had so many by the end I was walking out feeling anxious already. At 10 weeks your chances of miscarriage are very low and dropping every couple of days, so just hang in there. Just because your last pregnancy ended badly it doesn’t mean this one will at all. ❤️Today you are pregnant and baby is ok (repeat every day) and worrying and anxiety will only ruin a magical experience for you. That’s the lesson I’ve learnt, I’ve just stopped being anxious at 20 weeks with my IVF baby after 7 years of infertility and TTC. Deep breaths - take it a day at a time, keep yourself as busy as possible to distract yourself and let us know how you get on.

I'm sorry to hear about you MMC it's such an awful experience. I had one this year after finding out at 12 wks scan. It's difficult but just try to remind yourself it's a new pregnancy and try to trust your body. Im now 15 weeks pregnant and although it's not been and still isn't easy I'm just trying to think positively and that there's nothing at that stage I can do anyway to prevent anything going wrong. Wishing you lots of luck 🩷

I too had an MMC discovered at first scan at 12 weeks in the Autumn of last year. . It is a truly awful experience and I am sorry you have this happen too. Since I had mine I have been really shocked by the number of ladies who have told me that they had the same experience. That said, they have gone in to be successful in starting or growing their families. Yes, your symptoms might well start to disappear at 10 weeks because of the placenta taking over so try not to worry on this point.
Good luck for your scan x

Anyone who's been through a MMC will truly be feeling for you when they read your post. I also had one 10 years ago, discovered at the 12 week scan.
I will be honest, for me personally my first trimester anxiety never got any better with subsequent pregnancies until the 12 week scan was over. But it doesn't mean it will happen again, I'm now 26 weeks pregnant with my third child and thankfully I only went through it that one time. I hope this is the same for you.

Update??

Hello, I think OP had her baby on April 1st :) I did a user name search and OP mentioned having a c-section on that date so that's great news,
@Ttcpph if you read this then huge congratulations x

Hi, it’s so tough but my advice is to keep busy and just take it one day at a time and avoid those who constantly want to talk about your pregnancy until you are a bit further along/feel comfortable if you can.

Ttcpph · 03/05/2025 02:23

@Carportforme @WildSecret
yes! Little one arrived by c section and is thriving 🥰
