Ectopic pregnancy treatment

Hi everyone,

I found out at the end of August that we were finally pregnant again after a previous missed miscarriage and chemical pregnancy. Very unexpected as we’d been told a week prior to getting a positive test that we’d probably need IVF to conceive! I’d had a HyCosy at the beginning of the month which was inconclusive, but the doctor had assumed that my right tube was blocked.

We’ve been told today that it’s an ectopic pregnancy (unsure where it is exactly but they’ve confirmed I ovulated from my left ovary). I’m going back for another scan tomorrow. I wondered what treatment other people have had for an ectopic pregnancy, and specifically if anyone has had a laparoscopy but they’ve managed to keep the tube instead of having it removed entirely?

I had an ectopic back in April I was only 5 weeks I didn't have a rupture or anything but I still had to have the surgery and lost my left tube sorry you are having to go through this :( if you have any questions feel free to reach out x

Sorry you’re going through this, it’s awful 😢

I had the methotrexate injection for my ectopic which meant I could keep both my tubes. From my understanding that’s the only method of treatment where you keep the tube - I could be wrong though! It made me really tired but I tested negative for pregnancy after 2 weeks. You do have to wait 3 months before trying again though because the methotrexate seriously depletes your folate levels.

Best of luck with whatever treatment you choose 💐
