Can a panic attack cause a miscarriage?

Today I had my first ever what I can only describe as a panic attack.

Been having a stressful few weeks, and I now have stomach cramps. I’m 8 weeks pregnant.

Will it harm my baby? 😢

I am so worried and I kitchen so guilty for feeling stressed.

No sweetheart you're alright and so is that little baby in there. Panic attacks happen, and they're awful, but won't harm the pregnancy. Sorry you had to go through that. Everything will be ok don't worry,

No, of course not. Miscarriages are mostly caused by chromosome issues.

Don’t feel guilty for feeling stressed! I don’t know anything about pregnancy symptoms, but can you speak to your GP or 111 to put your mind at rest? If you couldn’t have a moment of stress without it causing a miscarriage there would be no babies born. Big hug! 💐 X

I’ve had 5 MC in total, none of them caused by a panic attack. The one pregnancy I had to full term I had several panic attacks during it and my son is 6 now!

Please just look after yourself and don’t worry x

No, miscarriages are caused by the embryo not developing properly in the vast majority of cases

Cramps and pains are very common in early pregnancy too btw, just everything getting stretched out and ligaments relaxing.

Thank you all so much. I feel a bit more ok about it now, and the cramps have eased off.

Jellybelly888 - so sorry for your losses and panic attacks. I really god to he’s your boy is now 6 🙂
