Hi, am looking for stories or experiences any mamas have had with an amniotic sheet or shelf during pregnancy?

I have been told I have a thick sheet during our recent 12w scan and my midwife didn't seem to know what they were so am stressing myself out! It looked like it went from one side of the sac to the other, not sure if that means it is 'complete' but if it is, the outcomes don't look good!

Please share any experiences you have had or heard of!

Hiya! I hope you’re okay and hope you have had some more answers from the hospital since you posted this x
i remember getting the call to say I had an amniotic shelf and I just remember crying because I was so scared! And I did a lot of googling which I definitely shouldn’t have done! What I found out after talking to my midwife is not a lot of people actually know what an amniotic shelf is which is so frustrating when you want answers and no one can give you any.
one thing to remember is that an amniotic sheet is complete different from an amniotic band. I got so scared when googling and seeing information about amniotic bands. Basically when I went for my scan I was told that amniotic sheets don’t usually affect your pregnancy, they can just affect position of your baby for example they may be not be able to get into a head down position.they also said as baby grows it’s very common for the sheet to disappear as it gets squished against the uterine wall (which is exactly what mine did) it sounds so scary before they properly explain it and I 100% know how you’re feeling. Please keep us updated and if you want to talk give me a message☺️x
