I am currently 21 weeks pregnant and baby is measuring big. She is currently 420g. Has anyone experienced this before??

@Berrylady at 26 weeks I had to go for a growth scan as my bump was measuring big (I’m on the small side), and from the growth scan I was told baby was measuring big. Same thing at every growth scan I had from then, but then he was born at 37 weeks and 6lb 9, so not particularly big. Is there something in particular that you’re worried about with her size? X

Hello lovely, this also happened to me - I've had extra growth scans and tests since because I've also got extra amniotic fluid and no gestational diabetes but baby is absolutely fine, just measuring bigger. They make it sound quite worrying sometimes but try not to let it consume you.
I've heard lots of people being told they are having 12lb plus babies and them being 7/8lbs so not sure how accurate these measurements are, particularly weight!

Hope this helps xxx

Honestly, the measurements and scans are not accurate at all, I've been told this by doctors and midwives. I really wouldn't worry, I've never even been told the estimated weight of my baby, and I'm 38 weeks!

In my first pregnancy baby measured small. Next check he measured big. Next check he measured small again. He was born at 41+3, weighing a perfectly respectable 8lbs 10

Try not to worry, there's a wide margin of error at this stage.

I really wouldn't worry at all. The chances are, baby will be born a perfect weight /size. I really do think they worry you when it's not necessary!
Good luck

All of mine measured big to the point my youngest they thought she was going to be massive.....they were all small babies when born (15 centile and less). Measurements from scans etc are really unreliable as its such small margins the doctors are working with.
