NT 3.6mm but Hcg 1.11 Pappa-A 2.15 awaiting NIPT results

Hi,

I was wondering if someone had been given similar results to me from combined screening test and what the NIPT test outcome was?

I am 28 years old and this is my first pregnancy.

I was 12+2 at my 12 week scan and NT came back at 3.6mm ( I did notice on the screen she took 3 measurements 2.9mm, 3.5mm and 3.6mm) I believe they have to go with the highest measurement.

As this is over 3.5mm I was referred to Fetal medicine and had another scan at 13+1, NT measuring 3.59mm but no other abnormalities found on the scan.

I got my combined tests result back as Hcg 1.11 MoM and Papp-a 2.15 MoM, the midwife said blood results alone are suggesting none of the syndromes as papp-a is usually low and mine is on the higher side and my Hcg is around average whereas these are usually high. However due to the NT my risk for Down’s syndrome is 1:53 which is high risk. Edwards and Pataus was 1:210 so low risk.

Had my NIPT test today and was told it could be a week or longer wait for results, I’ve been so anxious and stressed thinking there is something wrong and I was hoping people had positive outcomes with these results?

I have refused any invasive tests as I did not want the risk and was also told by Fetal medicine my placenta was in an awkward position so therefore miscarriage risk would be higher.

I had 1 in 76 for Edwards and Pataus, NIPT was negative and baby is healthy.
I totally understand how awful the wait is, but the screening midwife seemed genuinely not to be expecting a positive result with my odds. I understand yours is a bit higher but it's highly unlikely that your baby is affected with the odds you have.
Highly recommend talking to the ARC, they have a wonderful helpline if you want to chat it through.

Hi OP, I went straight to NIPT because of my age so didn't have the combined test first but I didn't want to read and run.
Waiting for the NIPT results is truly awful so you have my full sympathiesl
Mine came back after 8 days and all was thankfully OK...... sending you lots of positivity that you get the same low risk results i did.
Good luck.

Thank you so much for your reply! I keep telling myself 1:53 is 1.9% chance and is incredibly low still but once that doubt is there it’s so hard to not dwell on it while waiting! Will definitely give them a call!

Thank you, so glad to hear you had a low risk result from NIPT!

Its awful waiting for the NIPT. I was just in the low risk category for T21 (1:170) as my hcg was 9.5 MOM. So high! My papp a and NT we're normal though. 3.6 is just outside the higher range and as the rest of your results are normal I'm sure everything is fine :) hope everything comes back low risk for you :)

I had similar results for the NT at a similar age to you but the other levels gave me odds just on the border between high and low risk. (1 in 153 I think). DS is 13 now and perfectly well.

My NT was 5.6mm and chance of down syndrome was 1:17. I had NIPT which came back low risk for all 3 and refused the amnio due to the risk of miscarriage. I am now 23 weeks and all monthly scans have been good, the heart scan was also all normal.

The wait for results is truly awful. I hope you get your results soon and look after yourself xx
