So how pregnant am I??

So confused!
I got a BFP this morning 😃

However, the digital clearblue says 2-3 weeks. I started my period on 1st Sep and lasted 4 days.

According to OPK I had my LH surge on 5th Sep, only 10 days ago! DTD a lot around that time and leading up.

So I'm hoping someone can explain how I can be testing positive already when I'm only 10DPO and not due on for over 2 weeks!

I'm worried it means it's a chemical (although I have lots of early symptoms)

If you started your period on 1st Sep you'd be exactly 2 weeks pregnant according to your period dates. I got my BFP at 8dpo so it's certainly possible! Is also possible you could have ovulated slightly earlier! Periods are weird things. Congratulations!!! X

Blue2020 · 15/09/2024 14:26

With the typical cycle they say 28 day cycle with ovulation on the 14th day. If you had the surge on the 5th you likely ovulated on the 6/7th which puts you a week ahead of the typical cycle. So you could be about 3weeks 2days. I would put you at 9dpo too, you could have ovulated really fast and be 10dpo but most ovulate the day after the peak.

Thank you so much!

It's mad how early you can get a BFP, I had no idea.

This is really interesting thank you.

Sorry I've just realised I got it the wrong way round.

I got my LH surge on 10th Sep, not 5th Sep. So I'm only 5DPO??

I think I must have ovulated earlier than that surely... * *

OP posts:
Shahhhh · 15/09/2024 14:37

Yeah if you're only 5dpo you definitely would have ovulated earlier to get a BFP today. Either waaaaay, congrats!!! Fingers crossed all goes well and smoothly for you xxx

I agree, must've been a random positive 5 days ago or maybe not as positive as I thought it was...

Thank you so much! I'm shocked and just trying to figure out exactly when this could have happened!

OP posts:
Blue2020 · 15/09/2024 15:04

Hmm yes, 5dpo is very early. Again you likely ovulated on the 11th if the surge was the 10th. If you have a positive then you are likely further along than 4/5dpo. I think I have seen people post from 8dpo. When did you start testing your ovulation? I guess you could have ovulated really early and missed it eg 5/6th sept.

You need to add on 2 weeks to the 2-3 weeks so you’re likely 4-5 weeks. Are you sure your period was really a period?

I thought the same. At 2 weeks "pregnant" you're only just ovulating.

The clearblue is from conception rather than last period, so you normal add on 2 weeks to work out how pregnant you are. This would put you at 4-5 weeks pregnant, and your period could have been an implantation bleed.

My understanding is that it's really rare to get a positive before 8/9 DPO

LucyLou0527 · 16/09/2024 09:40

you must definitely be more than 5DPO as implantation doesn’t even happen before then!

it also could be twins since it’s “2-3 weeks” so early?

T0r11210 · 16/09/2024 14:20

Congrats on your pregnancy! I really dont trust the weeks indicator, a lot of countries including the US no longer sell them because of the uncertainty and anxiety.
From personal experience mine progressed to 3+ when it should have back in July so I got my hopes up to find out from a blood test the very same day that my HcG had in fact fallen ti below 1000, yet you need over 3000 on 3+ so they’re really not accurate.
Definitely go by your day of ovulation.

OrchardBlack · 16/09/2024 18:21

Thanks so much all.

I'm genuinely wondering if the period was implantation now. But it really was very heavy (I soaked through one night) and lasted 3/4 days (normal for me)

I thought implantation was just spotting?

Christ don't say that 🤣

I've been cramping a lot today, no spotting but feel like implantation is definitely in full swing.

Should I disregard the 2-3 weeks on the digital test?

Hehe sorry!

im not too sure because 2-3 usually indicates around 5 weeks but surely that can’t be right?

do you have any pics of tests with lines on them? How dark are they looking?

OrchardBlack · 16/09/2024 19:50

Thanks all.

I'm Dr Googling and getting myself in a tiz that it's a molar or an ectopic 😥

This was the first test I did yesterday. Not weak but not massively strong either. But then why would the crappy weeks one say 2-3 weeks?

Oh heck.

So how pregnant am I??

That is a strong test. There's no way that's a "before missed period" test. I honestly think your last period was possibly a very heavy implantation bleed.
I would try and book a scan. Maybe ring your GP (to refer) or EPU if they allow self referral.
Or you could book a private scan but they are often not that helpful generally.

I agree, it's strong (I thought it was the line across not downwards)

I've messaged my manager and going to call docs first thing tomorrow and ask to be referred to EPU.

Could an implantation bleed really have been that heavy? I'm worried it was a MC now 😫

In all honesty it is a possibility you've had a miscarriage. HCG can take a while to drop. I was still getting very dark lines on tests for 2 weeks after my surgery for a missed miscarriage.
Or you maybe had 2 and lost one. Was your period totally normal? In flow and (sorry) texture and duration etc?
There's also the possibility of a haematoma but that type of bleeding is often different from period blood.
My friend had heavy implantation bleeding with small clots etc and all was well. But it didn't last long. Just a couple of hours only but it came the exact day she was due on so assumed her period.

I'm having a cry with DP.

I had a MMC 4 years ago and it was one of the worst experiences of my life.

I've called the OOH EPU and she was useless and quite rude, just told me to go to A and E.

But surely I could just be testing positive early?? Surely?

I don't know whether to go A and E or EPU in morning..

OP posts:
WutheringMights · 16/09/2024 20:31

Your local EPU will likely turn you away unfortunately. Based on your LMP, a scan won't show anything so soon.

Ask your GP for two HCG blood test forms. Book your blood tests 2 - 3 days apart and your HCG rising levels will be the best indicator of a viable pregnancy this early on.

If your levels increase sufficiently between the two tests, book yourself into a private scanning clinic around the 20th October. Good luck op!

It's possible. But there's no way you can be like 5/6 dpo. That just cannot be possible though. If you were more like 8 or 9 then it could be more possible. Although it would still be the strongest test I've ever seen for that. Especially combined with the 2-3 weeks one.
Were you testing for ovulation daily? My sticks stay positive for 2-3 days sometimes. Maybe you ovulated a couple of days earlier? Also ovulation tests can show positive if you're pregnant. So it could have been picking up pregnancy?

LucyLou0527 · 16/09/2024 20:33

I had to go to A&E with my MC last year and they did a beta hcg test and I had to go back two days later and redo it and the levels had more than halved!

maybe if you say you’ve been having a lot of pain and no bleeding they will scan you? That’s the only way I can think of

fingers crossed everything’s okay!

like I said, maybe your hcg is super high and it’s twinnies!!!

KatyaKabanova · 16/09/2024 20:36

Like others have said, that's a very strong test, but it does seem odd for your dates. I'm sorry that you're feeling so sad, it's very stressful, especially with your history.
There is some good advice on here. It may not be possible to see anything on a scan, so bloods are the way forward. Good luck.

seven201 · 16/09/2024 21:06

If your gp won't do the blood test (I've been refused before after 4 miscarriages) then you can buy finger prick HCG ones online to send off. There are lots of companies but medichecks or thrive I think do them. Some pharmacies even sell them over the counter/on the shelves so that saves a day of waiting for delivery. I think it depends on where you live but my epu is gp referral only. You might have the option of private scanning places eg "Surrey medical imaging" (I made that name up!) not 'window to the womb" type
Ones that are just for nice scan photos. Good luck.

OrchardBlack · 16/09/2024 21:10

Thanks all.

The dates make no sense. Unless the positive ovulation was actually a positive pg, which I do know happens.

That would still mean the absolute most I could be, if it was indeed a period, is 2W+1.

And to get such a strong line at that point. I'm just struggling to make sense of it.

Is the general consensus GP and not EPU tomorrow?
