Dying hair (hairdressers) and pregnancy

Can I dye my hair at the hairdressers, I'm getting mixed reviews and just uncertain. I will be 14 weeks when I have the appointment. Currently having blonde highlights growing out (naturally brunette) so it looks a mess. Won't be dying from the roots either.

Yes should be fine. Mines been bleached in both my previous pregnancies. Just tell them you're pregnant as they might want to do a patch test even if you've previously had one.

It’s an old wives tale about not dyeing hair and having nails done and all that. You can still have procedures.

Yes I've carried on having my hair highlighted in all my pregnancies. Never had an issue.

I was told it's because during pregnancy you can become extra sensitive and react differently to product's, even if you've been using them for years.
They can react differently with your skin or your hair pigments etc.

For this reason, most places will ask you to have a patch test 24 or 48 hours before if you tell them you are pregnant

Yes all safe op

Yes all safe, my hairdresser says it’s fine to have highlights just got to be careful with certain types of dyes if it’s going directly on the scalp due to changing sensitivities during pregnancy

Not sure where you're getting the mixed information from (American websites?), the NHS advice is very clear that there's no issue with colouring hair during pregnancy, other than being mindful of skin sensitivity and hair potentially reacting differently to colour treatments during pregnancy. I've been colouring mine throughout - in fact I'm off to have my highlights done next weekend to refresh them before my due date!

You might want to get a new patch test done in case your skin has become more sensitive during pregnancy, but if it's foils then there isn't really a need as the dye shouldn't be getting on your skin, unless your salon insists on it.
