Bump dropped a week ago but has risen back up?!

Hi all,

Second baby due in less than 2 weeks. I've been feeling intense pressure down below for weeks and bump visibly dropped about a week ago making things more uncomfortable!

The past few days something has changed and all pressure has gone away! The dreaded heartburn has returned and I feel nowhere near "close" to giving birth!

Has anyone experienced this? It's really frustrating after feeling I could go at any minute for the past few weeks 😞

Hey I don’t have any advice as this is my first baby but I feel similar. Due any day now, bump dropped, had been feeling so much lightening and discomfort down below but that’s got better over the last few days. So I’m now thinking spontaneous labour is unlikely…interested to hear others’ thoughts!

Ah it's all so confusing isn't it! I don't know whether to worry about it or not, I'm seeing the midwife tomorrow morning so will update you then but hopefully someone will step in with some words of wisdom before then!

me too! I think if baby engaged they’ll offer me a sweep…not sure whether to accept but I suppose nothing to lose? I’ve heard they can be painful though.

I had a sweep with my first, was apprehensive but it was absolutely fine, during the sweep she said I was 2cm dilated and my cervix had gone! That was a Thursday and I had DS on the following Tuesday (I remember being furious nothing more exciting had happened on the Monday!)

I'd take the sweep again in a heartbeat but everyone's experiences are different

Ok that’s good to hear thanks. Good luck tomorrow!

This happened to me, bump visibly low for a week and then high again, turned out she had been breech, then flipped to transverse then head down, the bump looking low I think was due to the change in shape.

Ah and everything was OK I guess?

Yes all fine, she finally stuck with head down when I went in to be induced at 39 weeks. With my first my bump dropped visibly at 34 weeks, she was head down, but stayed there until 40+5 lol

Hope yours doesn't keep you waiting for too long :)

@sofasofachair851 I had a sweep this morning, admittedly it's a tad more painful than I remember but not unbearable! She said I'm 2cm dilated, fully effaced and had bulging membranes. It's given me a bit of hope from feeling so far away last night but I don't want to get over excited and deal with the disappointment!

@Impatient6227 That’s good, glad youve had some positive news. I saw a different midwife who told me I wasn’t even engaged so didn’t examine me internally…she seemed pretty useless and disinterested though. I have an elective section booked for a week but was hoping I’d go into spontaneous labour before then, but looks like that won’t happen. Hopefully not too long for either of us now!

@sofasofachair851 🤞🤞 for us both!
