This was a scan at 13+4 weeks, trying to work out the gender by the nub theory, any guesses?

You can't tell the sex from a scan until 16 weeks, even then only a professional can give a best estimate.

This. It's either a boy or a girl. That is sex, not gender.

Jasminecla · 11/09/2024 12:16

Boy 💙

Shahhhh · 11/09/2024 12:21

Ah yes all the Mumsnet sex police are out I see. 🙄

I think a boy!! Nub seems stacked 💙

Omg stop it

imverynosey · 11/09/2024 12:23

I think boy!

sel2223 · 11/09/2024 13:28

Honestly ignore the woke replies, everyone knew exactly what you meant.

My guess is Boy 💙

Lilac90 · 11/09/2024 13:29

Congratulations, looks like a boy to me.

For the constant posts that appear on here about having no idea what gender a child will be, remember this is a fairly new belief and not everyone believes they have no idea if their child is male, female or otherwise until they are much older.

It's fine if that's what you believe but doesn't mean others must think the same too.

I did with my scans. If you can see the nub it's possible

teatoast8 · 11/09/2024 14:15

Boy🩵

Lilac90 · 11/09/2024 14:40

I did too, if the nub is visible on a scan after 12.5 weeks it's pretty reliable and not just guess work.

I also had private scans to find out the sex at 14 weeks both times so certainly can be done before 16 weeks if the clinic offers it.

Elisabeth3468 · 11/09/2024 15:46

It's a boy

PinkFizz1 · 11/09/2024 16:00

Definitely a boy

LittleSparklyStar · 11/09/2024 16:01

I’m 99% sure this a boy, congrats x

Give over! What tripe.

Well yes, we did. But did the OP?

I will keep correcting/educating people for as long as it takes.

Ultimately this is an opinion though, so not something that needs correcting of others.

Not everyone believes the6 have no idea if their child is male, female or otherwise until many years to come. If that's your opinion then you're entitled to it but doesn't mean that everyone else thinks the same.

Seriously, don't quote anything from me to try and make your point.

Everyone here is old and wise enough to form their own opinions without you forcing yours onto them.

YOU knew exactly what the OP meant and a reply like yours has the opposite effect on what you're trying to achieve by 'correcting and educating' people.

Imagine having that high of an opinion of yourself that you truly believe that your opinion is the only 'right' one and everyone else must listen and follow? Dear me.

KnickerlessParsons · 11/09/2024 19:45

I would argue that it's not an opinion.

Just how does one determine the gender of a baby in utero?

misskirst98 · 11/09/2024 20:26

I’ve been saying since day 1 I think it’s a boy but I struggled to see the nub on this. If someone could draw around it so I can see more clearly I’d appreciate it thank you 💙

Private scans nowadays are pretty accurate in being able to tell you.

I have no idea OP, but congratulations on a healthy baby.

Re the terminology is that not just accuracy? Whether for or against the argument sex cannot be changed, gender can?
