Couldn't find any information on this. We have 7 week scan today, do you know if bladder should be full or not for the scan? Thanks!

Empty. At that point it will be a trans vaginal scan. Good luck!

I would say full bladder. If 7 weeks typically can do tummy (transabdominal) scan unless high BMI, tilted uterus, etc. causing scanning difficulties.

I've had a 7 week scan with each of my children and never been transvaginal.

If full and they want empty then at least can just have a wee! Whereas might need to rebook if full bladder is needed?

I'd go with full. You can always empty it but it takes ages to fill if that's what they want. Good luck.

In both pregnancies I only ever had transvaginal up to 8 weeks and they have been good, clear scans.
Also went with just a 'normal' bladder each time, neither full nor completely empty

Is it nhs or private? When I had a private scan at 7 weeks it was abdominal so needed full bladder.

I'd go with a full bladder unless they've specified or as you can always empty it if needed.

Always go with a full bladder because you can always empty it but you’ll be sat there for hours to fill it up again, and might miss the scan altogether.

Unless your womb is tilted, they should attempt to externally scan you first of all.

If it's a private scan they will probably try an abdominal scan first, so best to go with a full bladder and you can use the loo if they need you to. If it's an NHS scan they might just go straight to transvaginal, but they will tell you to empty your bladder first anyway (I had scans at 7 and 9 weeks at the hospital and they were both transvaginal, they didn't even attempt an abdominal scan).

I’d go full, I had abdominal at that stage. And it’s easier to empty it, than fill it!

I went for a scan at 10 weeks at the epu. I wasn't sure what so went with a mostly full bladder but they wanted to do an internal scan and asked me to use the loo after doing the paperwork and before the scan.
When I had my daughter my bladder was too full and I had to have a wee mid ultrasound (abdominal). Much easier to empty a bladder compared to filling it!

Thanks all. It was empty for this one and pleased to report a healthy scan! Exciting.
