Hi

I went for my first booking appointment where my midwife did all my bloods and urine test. She said she would get in touch with me if my bloods are low which I mentioned to her quite a few times that my bloods and other levels do get low during pregnancy. She said she would get in touch with me whenever she receives the results and I don’t need to do anything.

I assume my results are normal and fine but I didn’t feel great in myself as I know my own body so I text my midwife with the mobile number she gave me and no reply .. It was a week later so I call the reception after around a week and ask for the midwife but apparently she wasn’t in that day and she had been on annual leave. So I left it another week thinking my midwife would get in touch with me if needed. Another week went by and called the reception and midwife isn’t in. It’s got to a month after my booking appointment and I complained saying the midwife hasn’t got in touch with me even though I keep ringing up. I ask for my results myself and she put me through to a midwife who was covering my original midwife and she said my iron and vitamins were extremely low and a few other things.

During this month I had UTI symptoms but I thought it can’t be a UTI especially if I just gave a sample and it was clear. The midwife told me they found something in my urine and she told me to do a repeat urine test. One of the blood bottles she took were not accurate so they had to discard that and re do it which they haven’t yet done. I was so angry and just want to complain! Still in lots of pains for this UTI and I just hope my results come back quickly. Original midwife still not got back to me.

Wish I could change midwife. Any advice what I should do?

Visit your gp for Uti. And discuss test results.

You can ask to change midwife.

When I was pregnant with my first DS, my (elderly) GP commented that, if I got much bigger, his couch would break. He'd probably be struck off now and the NHS would have lost a good doctor. If you are overweight, you're overweight (I know I am), don't expect health professionals who know the complications that can arise from that to ignore the fact. It sounds as if this midwife was trying to be kind and I don't think she deserves a complaint to her line manager.

Sorry my comment appears to have migrated from the fat shaming OP.
