Referral to feral medicine - Measuring smaller

Hi all.

should be 13+2 but measuring 11+5.

head is out of proportion to the rest of body - clear image couldn’t be seen due to baby being curled up and refusing to move after walks and wiggles. Some waves at times but generally stayed curled. (This is the second time in a row - first 12 week scan was last Friday)

measuring at rough estimate of 50mm.

managed to get the NT bloods for combined screening but took well over an hour of scanning

any experiences? Positive and negative welcome - just want to be aware and prepared for the worst.

My son was measuring small with a big head, he was always curled up during scans (it’s a good job that we didn’t want to find out the gender, as none of the sonographers could have told us!).
He was born at 35 weeks and was only 4lb13. He has always had a big head and has to had to have a couple of scans and an ultrsound on his head but he’s 17 months old now and is absolutely fine!
My husband has a big head so it’s perhaps just genetic.

I know how worrying it is but it could all be absolutely fine.
I’m glad they’re keeping a close eye on you both.

@i83 thanks for your response. It’s 4am and I can’t get a wink! We’ve waited 5 years for this..!

@i83 how did the rest of your pregnancy go? Did you consistently measure small?

@Patientlywaiting7 he measured small but the NHS didn’t book me in for more scans, after the 20 week one (I realised afterwards that was an admin error 🤨🙄) so were just measuring the size of my stomach at midwife appointments.
The midwives didn’t flag anything up (I could just have been putting weight on) but I went for a private scan and they sent me straight to the hospital, as they said he was small still.
They monitored me more closely from then but not for long, as he was 5 weeks early!

He had to have nearly 3 weeks in neonatal, due to being premature, rather than his size but he is honestly fine now.
He’s a really good height and weight.

I’m thinking of you, as it’s a really scary and worrying time though.

What have they said is the next step is for you?

I’ve just got the call today (just now!) and had the scan at like 5pm yesterday. I’m going in Monday afternoon now so pleased with the response but the level of urgency has left me feeling quite anxious.

im so happy to hear about your son - that’s insane! Really amazing news ❤️❤️ hoping it’ll be the same for me!

thank you for replying to me. It really means a lot x

Ah the waiting is horrible isn’t it.
Just try your best to stay positive and distracted.

I’ve got fingers, toes and everything crossed for you.

I’m glad they are seeing you on Monday. Please let us know how you get on, if you can.

Thinking of you ❤️💐

@i83 Just an update; Growth is abnormal and we’re moving forward in the next few days with a medical abortion. Thanks for responding to me last week - you have no idea how much it meant to me!
