Tiny fetus 6.5 weeks

Hi, my fetus is tiny, around 2mm at 6.5 weeks and limited growth since last scan. However my second scan was an EPU NHS and they don’t take into account previous private scans. It had a heartbeat, I’m confused as I’m preparing for miscarriage as the nurse said it’s not looking good, but then another nurse said there is no reason to be concerned. Very confused, surely a fetus should not be 2mm at 6.5 weeks. I know I need to wait until a scan in 2 weeks to confirm no growth etc but I just wondered if anyone experienced this?

Hi OP, when you say limited growth since last scan, when was that? Was that a private one?
I understand your confusion with the two nurses saying totally different things bless you.
Could you have ovulated late? Could you be less than 6.5 weeks?
I don't think any of us can give you any real answers until you have your next scan I'm afraid.
Good luck

Yes it was private a week before and measured larger

Measured larger? I've heard of an embryo that stops growing but not one that shrinks, especially with a heart beat present.
At this super early stage they are dealing in fractions of millimetres and there's a huge margin for error. Different equipment may be more or less sensitive to the measurements as well.
There could be many explanations here but nothing anyone can tell you until the follow up scan, sorry

They will atrophy if the heartbeat stops but not if it's still present so it can't have shrunk. Measurements can be wildly inaccurate at this stage - they're just too small. Unfortunately you won't get any clarity until you have another scan. Leave at least a week for proper assessment of change. Early pregnancy is so tough, try to just take it day by day. I wouldn't read too much into the scans you've had so far either way.
