Pregnancy after copper IUD, success stories?

i have a copper iud fitted and will be getting it removed to try for a baby.

I suffer from anxiety however and have convinced myself I will have damaged my uterus/womb, or compromised the quality of my eggs/overies by having a foreign object in there.

I know fertility goes back to normal immediate but I worry about the long term effect my body could then pass onto a baby.

I didn’t really have all these feeling when opting for a copper iud.

I am 36/37 so already have the worries of being an ‘older mum’ and feel stupid to have had something inserted that could potentially harm a growing baby (according to my brain).

would love to hear your success stories? How long after iud removal did you conceive, how old were you and was your pregnancy and baby healthy?

I had mine removed and six weeks later found out I was 5 weeks pregnant. Caught the first time I had sex. Healthy pregnancy, super quick labour ( 1 hour 40 min) and healthy baby!

Just worried the copper will somehow cause long lasting imbalances within the womb or affect egg quality generally while in there.

I know my thoughts aren’t rational but can’t help but feel this way.

Your worries are absolutely rational. Not many people know this but the copper iud uses copper to not only kill sperm, but also change the environment of your uterus to a less habitable one as well. Not only killing potential sperm but also anything else that tries to enter that area as well. This is why many women who are already prone to vaginally infections such as bv or thrush may experience more of this on the copper coil as it also kills good bacteria and other stuff that's supposed to help your whole uterus area.
This is why it shouldn't necessarily be marketed as "hormon free or natural" bc because while it doesn't put hormones in your body it can still distrupt them while inside.

However, with that being said, if you experienced no issues physically or hormonally or emotionally while on the copper iud I would have no reason to thunk, assuming you're otherwise healthy non smoker etc why you would have any issues due to the coil xxx

I got pregnant three months in a row straight after having my copper coil taken out (first two were chemicals, third resulted in my baby)

I had the copper coil for 9 years. Had it taken out late March 2024 and conceived Sept 2024.

I was also extremely anxious about this as I was worried the coil might’ve done some damage. I can’t tell you the amount of times I googled stats, chances, stories etc, but all was fine!

I got pregnant the first month of trying after having my copper coil removed, at 35 earlier this year. The exact same 10 years ago with my first pregnancy.

No fertility issues between the pregnancies, the gap is purely down to circumstance and life choice.

I had my first copper coil at 20 and have never used hormonal contraception.

On both occasions, I must have got pregnant the day the coil was removed.
