Concerned! Weird shaped gestational sac at first ultrasound

From what I've seen online, a very elongated gestational sac equals a high miscarriage rate. I had my first dating U/S scan this week at 8 weeks, 3 days. It went well. We saw the little gummy bear measuring 1 day ahead and the heart rate was 177. The report from my family doctor said everything looked very healthy.

However, I just read the thing about the gestational sac. I looked at my images and freaked out. The ultrasound images that show the baby the clearest and are the most close up show a very elongated gestational sac. The more zoomed out images and the ones that show the yolk sac show an ovular gestational sac but much more round.

There was no mention of the sac at all on the ultrasound report. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? My next appointment is 12 weeks and I am convinced I will miscarry.

I see absolutely no issue with your ultrasound image at all. I'm sure if there was the sonographer would've said. Try not to worry.

I don't know why people believe they know better than registered health care professionals - it causes so much unnecessary stress. If there was anything wrong they'd have told you.

Why do you think random people online willl know better than a doctor? You have to have trust they would mention any concerns. Stop Googling!

I worried about this too my first scan was like a banana! All is well so far at 23 weeks. It was just the angles, it's a cross section of a moving image really! X

The elongated looking bit on your images is the uterus, which looks perfectly normal. The GS looks fine.

That’s your uterus, not the GS
