Late implantation bad?

i keep seeing everywhere late implantation is bad?
I didn’t test positive till 18dpo but since coming off the pill I’ve had irregular cycles so might be be I ovulated later and is that a different thing to late implantation?
also would this effect my due dates?

It’s not bad, it’s just on a range. Anywhere on that range is normal.

Due dates based on last period rely on you fitting the average 28 day cycle (and having a regular cycle!), ovulation day 14, sperm meets egg right away, implantation on day 5. Late ovulation (egg being released) is different to late implantation (fertilised egg plants itself in your uterus).

If you have a 31 day cycle, ovulate on day 19, sme at 24 hours and implantation on day 10 this won’t work for you as you are already 2 weeks out from the average. Still normal, just on a range. Something to be aware of though so you don’t come out of early dating scans upset and worried.

I was under the recurrent miscarriage clinic and so had scans at 6 weeks after LMP and I was well out from the average. I was always measuring over a week behind and the clinician reminded me of all of the above every visit. Both of my successful pregnancies measured about 10 days behind (Based on last period) on the first scan. It doesn’t always mean there’s something wrong, that’s why there’s always a follow up scan to check progress is in line with the length of time between scans x

@AllThePotatoesAreSinging

My previous cycle was 37 days (only had one cycle since coming off the pill) my last period was on the 8th July, and I think I ovulated between the 25th-27th of July.
i should be 7 weeks 5 days but i don’t think i am.
This pregnancy feels very different from my first very little symptoms which is worrying but maybe it’s just I’m not as far along as i think , nausea didn’t start till 7 weeks with last pregnancy.

@Brittiny if your cycle would have been 37 days again, then you could have ovulated around day 24 ~31st July. This is only assumptions. A scan later on will give you a better estimate. You could be further along though.

I ovulated on 31st July and I’m now 6+2. That’s calculated from ovulation-2weeks rather than my LMP.

That seams about right for ovulating later. Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly.

@Blue2020 hope all is going well with your pregnancy also😊

@Brittiny as far as I am aware, I am 11+2 now. I have the 12 week scan next week.

Do you have another scan or do you wait now until the 20 week scan?

Brittiny · 04/10/2024 14:21

@Blue2020 hope all goes well❤️

next scan will be the 20week one as they got all the measurements they needed even though I wasn’t fully 12 weeks 😊
I have booked a private scan for 16 weeks though 😊

I'm almost 15 weeks pregnant and about 10 days out from LMP due to late ovulation and long, irregular cycles. That's normal for me
