Had a period but tested 3 weeks pregnant afterwards

Hi all
i was really hoping for some
advice. I have just had a 4 day period not as heavy as usual just medium. I was hoping we were pregnant. However this morning I decided just to do the last pregnancy test to get it done and to my absolute shock it stated I was 2-3 weeks pregnant. Obviously I’m trying not to get my hopes up as I’ve just had my cycle. I know google sayes about implantation bleeding but it sayes spotting and light. Has anyone experienced this?

I had this - was a perfectly timed, 5 day long period that was maybe slightly lighter than normal!

Went for my first scan and yup I was four weeks further ahead than we thought.

Obstetrician said it wasn’t uncommon and that it didn’t have to be ‘light spotting’

Please get a scan to confirm location. This happens sometimes with ectopic pregnancies (not the only reason why it might happen, but worth ruling out).

I had this and it was a blighted ovum. It can go either way though. I'd get in touch with your GP or EPU and see if you can get in for a scan to confirm everything is in the correct place and what is going on.

This happened to me too. It was discovered I was a month further on than I thought. I'd had a normal period and no idea.

My mum often tells me she had periods when pregnant with me for the first two months.

Contact your gp or epu to explain and hopefully they can see you to check.

This has just happened to me. I miscarried in May, had a heavy period in June and a lighter period in July then a positive test 2 weeks later. Scan another week after that showed I was 8+4 so must have conceived the cycle before the period. Waiting on 12 week scan but everything looked okay at last one. Hope turns out okay for you 🤞

Just to add unless you have other signs of ectopic or bleeding, I doubt EPU will be interested. I only had a scan because I had some bleeding, which was explained by a sub chorionic haematoma on scan.

I had 2 periods whilst pregnant. Got to 4 months without knowing anything was even happening! Was only because I mentioned something about being completely knackered to a friend, and then some smell made me feel nauseous when we were together. She was the one who suggested I do a pregnancy test. Was a big surprise!!!
